Good lord you Steve Austin people have thin skins. Lots of people don't like him. We're allowed to say it before, during and after the election. It's the cost of running for public office. |
Merrill Lynch presumably paid him to work there, didn't they? I doubt that he worked there for free. |
|
Austin lost. Who cares about his resume? He's not going to be on the ballot in the fall.
Let's discuss Harris and Dasgupta instead, since they will actually be on the ballot. |
Correct, let's discuss why Sunil's students rated him a crappy teacher and why Lynne would have no problem with kids being in different schools every year. |
That is why Stephen Austin is so coy about his background. He loves to use this kind of information against other people, but his biggest fear is that other people would use the same tactics against him. I wonder if some of his most passionate supporters feel used. He’s sitting on a lot of unspent contributions. What are you gonna do with it Stephen? You’re not going to be on the ballot this fall. |

Lynne Harris is the epitome of the Takoma Park/SS Mafia. She doesn't care about the rest of the county and actually loathes the W schools.
She is a liar, makes inappropriate public remarks (see her testimony on behalf of MCCPTA stating that the organization was behind the boundary analysis, which it was not - when called out, she issued a private apology, to the MCCPTA list serv, but not public and not to the Board of Education), and wants to turn the decision making over to the SJW teenagers (not the majority, just the most vocal). Gives lip service to the Black and Brown coalition, but hasn't done one thing to actually support these students. Sunil is an academic. In his head. Has zero understanding of how MCPS budgets work or how to make things happen in the big machine that is MCPS. I hope he can learn. Unfortunately the extremists got all the attention, with these 2 going forward for At Large, when there were better candidates (NOT talking about SA). But we are stuck with these 2. My vote will go to Sunil, as he would do the least damage to our already sinking school system. |
The what? Seriously. If the people who say this, put half the effort into actually campaigning and persuading people, that they put into hating on candidates who win elections, then they might actually win some elections. |
I am wondering about that too. |
21:05 “SA supporters have thin skins.” And then: Don’t you dare criticize Lynne and Sunil! I completely agree with the pp assessment. Lynnes campaign based on hearing student voices is just dumb. I will also vote Sunil as I think he’ll be less damaging. |
Where do you find updated campaign finances? The last I saw was from April from Bethesda magazine online. |
You can criticize Dasgupta and Harris all you want, with as dumb a criticism as you want. "The Takoma Park/Silver Spring mafia" is an extremely dumb criticism. |
In the report filed on 5/17/20, the campaign (Austin, Stephen for BOE) had a $13,047.81 cash balance. https://campaignfinance.maryland.gov/Public/ViewFiledReportsMain |
That’s a really naive perspective. People in my area (yes one of the Ws) put a lot of effort into campaigning for what we want. Unfortunately we aren’t as large of a base as silver spring/takoma Park and haven’t been as politically active in the past. Given there is district wide voting, it will be very difficult to out vote the silver spring/TP wishes. After seeing the divide in the county during this election, I think MCPS is too large of a district with too many competing needs. I know it probably won’t happen, but I’d love to see it divided up. |
This doesn’t make sense. It’s completely contradictory. It’s not extremely dumb. It’s just not your opinion. |
No, it's objectively dumb. There is no "mafia." Plus Silver Spring is most of the east county. |
