If they no longer have the energy or the will for the job, then it’s time to step down.

Sorry, I don't think having Pat O'Neill or Judy Docca there would have made any difference.

Honestly, the BOE is showing NO leadership on this. VERY disappointing.

Actually it's the consultants' job. Which the BOE hired them to do.

The consultant works for BOE. Their absence from these meetings is stunning. They hung the consultant out to dry.

Did you know that the parents at the Julius West MS meeting would behave so badly? I sure didn't.

I have been a consultant for many years. Never has a client not attended a meeting with me. At a minimum, senior MCPS staff should have been there. Ridiculous and unprofessional.

Do you know that there was no senior MCPS staff there?

You are suggesting that the meeting was limited to parents form JW boundaries? I think not.

Anonymous wrote:^ nothing shameful. You just want to ram this nonsense down their throats and expect them to gladly take it. That’s not going to happen, this will be one helluva fight, this much is certain. Also, MCPs and BOE are looking ridiculous parading students to defend their agenda. We will not be taken town by a bunch of 17yr olds.

You all are an embarrassment to Montgomery County.

+1 utterly ridiculous and juvenile behavior. I am embarrassed we live in the same county.

I am a Wootton/Cabin John/Cold Spring parent and the misinformation that is being spread about this study from my neighbors/friends is absolutely insane!!!! These are smart, kind, educated people who just cannot seem to grasp the fact that yes every once in awhile (in this case it has been over 20 years) change must happen. Guess what it is not just your kid that may go through this change. The entire community that you love so much will be going with you. Please calm down. The ugliness at that meeting was just completely uncalled for. What are you so afraid of? "Worst" case scenario you will end up at a school that currently borders yours with people from your neighborhood going with you. I just don't get what is so terrible about that????

Also - everyone who is constantly griping about the BOE not being everywhere all the time.....do you know what they get paid? They are doing their jobs out of service to the community, it damn sure isn't for the money. The hours they put in, the lack of privacy, the lack of respect.....would you want that job?

+1 if you don't like the way the BOE is, please please.. run for office the next time. I'm sure you'll get a lot of support from like minded folks.

MCPS needs to take a page from DC and provide grandfathering when it comes to the boundary changes. That will reduce the pressure on current families and make this less politically volatile.

The fact of the matter is that in 1972, MCPS had 203 schools. Today? MCPS has 208 schools and a student population that is about 40% larger than in 1972.

People need to open their hearts and wallets. The county desperately needs to build more schools AND redistrict. It needs to use eminent domain and build more schools in some of the densest areas of the county, where housing has become more dense and near Metro transport.

Eminent domain or no eminent domain, MCPS still has to pay fair market value for the property.

Property values at neighboring school area may be a lot lower. That’s not really fair to make families lose so much money.

These boundaries have been in place since the 1980s. It's 2019.
