Which Dem can win general election in 2020?

This.

I'm a liberal, and I've been surprised by what some of my liberal friends and family have been quietly saying about immigration.

Newsflash: not all liberals want open borders. In fact, some are very anti-"anchor babies." I've been shocked to hear some rather harsh stances on immigration from otherwise well-educated, uber liberal people in the DC metro area.

While liberal politicians have backed off the immigration topic in the last several weeks leading up to midterms, I wonder what they will say afterwards?

I wouldn't confuse sticking to healthcare as supporting white ethno-nationalism.

Liberals do want border control, but it has to include humane treatment and a path to citizenship for the DACA kids. Repealing the 14th amendment has been a fringe issue only popular with the far right. I don't see it becoming so far normalized that the Democrat party will adopt it.

No liberal wants "open borders" so stop peddling that BS.

I like Kamala Harris, but recognize that a non-white woman candidate may be too much for the Trumpy side of the country. Tammy Duckworth has been quiet lately, but I love her too.

Beto was the star last night despite losing. With Harris or Klobuchar on the ticket, dems will stand a chance.

Nope. Amy Klobuchar.

Take it to the bank.

Klobuchar will top the ticket. She kicked ass in rural Minnesota yesterday, is midwestern nice but firm and strong, and she was the standout democrat in the Kavanaugh hearings.

You?

Biden is old, skeevy, and has a skeevy son. And he has run twice and lost horribly. Step aside, Joe.

Look at what's going on with Brexit - a bad idea, but one that is being driven by the inability of the Brits to control who lives in Britain.

My particular disgust with immigration policy is focused on the abuses of the HlB system - which to me has functioned as a pipeline for "replacement workers", workers who are decidedly not more skilled or experienced than their predecessors, but merely lower-paid and easier for corporations to manipulate and control.

I am much more sympathetic to legitimate asylum seekers - but also think that we need to do a much better job encouraging quick assimilation to American norms with this population.

Perhaps this would make Jayapal's head explode, but I increasing have come to think of myself as an "Americans first" Democrat. That means that I believe that the primary responsibility of government is to take care of its own - those born here, or who came here legally, or those that we have specifically decidedly to be merciful towards.

I would argue that in this age of voodoo economics meets globalization, its the documented populations of the US that has born the brunt of these policies, and that's why there is so much angst over immigration.

Americans have always been a generous, welcoming people - at least when their government has first done right by them.

I love this.

You realize that Britain is supposed to have open borders under the EU. And the US does not have open borders.

She got the most votes last time and it's still her turn.

The only way she doesn't run is if BHO publicly endorses someone else (Biden likely).

But Trump is pretty much locked in.

There is so much untruth in these statements it’s almost like they came from Trump.

It’s mostly men hyping Beto. But it won’t be Beto. It will be a woman.
