Skelton brothers from Morenci, MI. Mom let dad have them for Thanksgiving, and he never returned them. Said he gave them to a sanctuary group to protect them from their mother. He's in jail for kidnapping, but the boys haven't been found.

The police found the killer, it was the maintenance man but her body has never been found.

There was an article in the Post a few years back that her mom still holds out hope and has kept the same phone number just in case.

Melissa Brannen. It was 1989 and I had just recently moved to the DC area and remember hearing about this story. She was at the party, went to get some potato chips and was taken from the party, never to be seen again. Her convicted killer, Caleb Hughes, is going to be released from prison in August. When he is released, he will have served 29 years.

Oh no! How can they be releasing that monster? That's horrible.

This horrible abduction influenced me tremendously when I got married and then was a parent. They basically were at home, in the clubhouse of the apartment complex, and little Melissa was kidnapped and never seen again by her mother. The video that was played over and over on the tv was so poignant and sweet. I cannot believe they are releasing that pervert. I cannot believe that they don't have some way to compel him to tell where Melissa is so her mother and her grandparents can find some peace.

Rosie Gordon was abducted in Burke while she was out riding her bike. She was later found dead in Fairfax just a short drive away. Amy Baker, a young woman, was killed in Springfield off of 95.

I would really like to see both of these solved.

I heard about this podcast. I'm one of the PPs who named this case. I don't know if I can listen to this. This is the only criminal case that actually makes me cry.

It makes me cry, too. Along with Melissa Brannen and the Lyon sisters. There are some terrible people in this world.

The young guy who was murdered in Ballston, Arlington VA in 2020. Police finally released a weird video way late. Story is so weird.

This is definitely high on my list.

I would love to see the Zodiac Killer solved. I had hope that there might be a break due to advances in genetic genealogy, but as time goes on it appears less and less likely.

There used to be a website, I believe associated with the Moco police that had a list of lesser known, but interesting cold cases in Montgomery County going back to the 1970's and 80's. I wish that site was brought back. I would check it out every few months.

There was one in particular that interested me from the early 80's. It was a guy who was murdered in a hotel on Shady Grove Rd. There were very few clues in the case, other than a sketch of the alleged shooter who was apparently very well dressed in an Armani suit. I wish I could find out more about that case.

Maura Murray. College student who got into a minor car rash driving home from college in New England.
Got out of her car in the middle of winter on the side of the highway and never found. No leads at all. No body. No clues.

I listened to episode one of the podcast about Relisha yesterday. So many people failed her, and it made me so sad again. I do not think this will ever be solved. We know who did it, but he and his wife are deceased, and I do not have any faith that Relisha's remains will be found. Life is just sad sometimes, with no closure.

This sounds horrible but my greatest fear is NOT that they killed her but that they sold her off to someone and she is still alive in some pedo's house or being sex trafficked. You're right that she was failed by so many people.

I always wonder wonder if I had known her if I would have recognized the danger she was in and done something....
