Environmentalism, humanism, relativism. Yes. These are the prevailing religions.

Our religion is consumerism. American secular consumerism. Not being critical here, but religion just isn't seen as relevant in comparison.

Most religious leaders are gluttons and prescribe to consumerism.

Are you talking about priests, pastors, etc.? I have a feeling you don’t know many.

Yes. And yes I know them personally. Ever been to a party held by the archbishop or cardinal?

Have you seen Joel Osteens house?

Show me the money!

How many rabbis/priests/pastors/imams are there in the country and you focus on one guy, Osteen. Also, I’m not Catholic, but doesn’t their church own their residences? (But nice try at turning this into another Catholic-bashing thread.)

Religion is the absence of humanity

You need to get out more. You’d lose the ugly, bigoted stereotypes pretty quickly.

Seems like the atheist above is describing some kinds of religious people -- perhaps the only kind they have been exposed to. There are good religious people, too, but they are usually quieter about their beliefs.

Meanwhile, immediately pp is not a very good advertisement for "good" religious people. There are definitely some "ugly bigoted" people out there, religion or no religion.
