Our religion is consumerism. American secular consumerism. Not being critical here, but religion just isn't seen as relevant in comparison. |
You’re right and that’s why we have so many problems. We have no concept of sin, right versus wrong, retribution…We are seeing the results of secular humanist consumerism now. Gun violence, suicide, addiction to opioids, addiction to social media, depression, we are in a downward spiral because our beliefs are not grounded in anything. We’ve lost the sense of something bigger than ourselves. |
Most religious leaders are gluttons and prescribe to consumerism. |
+1 |
| We are youngish people who are atheists. Religion is codification of bigotry and a way for zealots to justify harming other groups. I’ve also yet to meet a charitable religious person. The devout are helllbound on forcing their religion on others while denying charity to those that don’t accept their faith. Religion is the absence of humanity |
Are you talking about priests, pastors, etc.? I have a feeling you don’t know many. |
Every statement you made is illogical, unprovable, and based on anecdotal evidence. Kind of like religion. You must be one of those devout atheists. |
Yes. And yes I know them personally. Ever been to a party held by the archbishop or cardinal? Have you seen Joel Osteens house? Show me the money! |
Like an invisible man in the sky, surrounded by angels and archangels and his son who ascended bodily into heaven? |
And most people with these problems are religious, as are most people in jail. |
|
From mega churches like Joel Ostein and places like Liberty University or the Anti Vax crowd or Trumper church goes how does any of these people sleep at night.
They have never read the Bible clearly |
They clearly missed the love part of Jesus's message. They are full of hate instead. |
| Because they know it’s a scam. |
| Religion and religious groups in the US have basically become political action groups. They traded faith for power and money. Why would young people join an organization that is mostly political with positions that they don’t agree with to start? It’s not just the hypocrisy of so many f these church communities pushing hate and intolerance toward others. It’s that the basic level of religion and church providing peace and making people feel better or more connected is gone because they aren’t really about faith anymore. |
Ugh, this. Which makes me so sad. I wish the religious leaders would lead more towards love. |
