"We do not need ships that are not optimized to provide lethality against the Chinese threat," Montgomery told the Journal, noting that the ship had "zero tactical use."

"That is not what these are focused on—they are focused on the president's visual that a battleship is a cool-looking ship," Montgomery said

Great. Cool looking steam powered battleships to stoke grandpa’s ego but will be ineffective with all the saber rattling he’s doing.

Congress? Where are you?

The one big beautiful bill gave Trump a blank check for this nonsense

Under the "abuse" category...

Sean Duffy on blue states: "What I can do is I can pull their money. That's the leverage I do have ... I guarantee you that the federal taxpayer is not going to fund their roads and bridges and their systems when they are putting illegals on the roads."

So I guess Duffy has decided he has the power to withhold congressionally chartered funds.

White House adds plaques below Biden and Obama portraits, calling them ‘the worst President in American history’ and ‘divisive’

As part of the president’s ongoing effort to customize the White House to his liking, Trump set his well-known opinions of each former president in stone by adding plaques underneath the portraits that now hang along the colonnade.

But rather than neutrally describing each president, Trump chose to invoke more color – claiming former President Barack Obama is “one of the most divisive political figures” and asserting former President Ronald Reagan “was a fan.”

“Sleepy Joe was, by far, the worst President in American History,” the plaque underneath Biden’s reads. “Taking office as a result of the most corrupt Election ever seen in the United States.”

As part of Obama’s description, the White House wrote: “As President, he passed the highly ineffective ‘Unaffordable’ Care Act, resulting in his party losing control of both Houses of Congress, and the Election of the largest House Republican majority since 1946.

For former President Bill Clinton, the White House attributed his legislative successes to “Republicans in Congress,” and boasted that Trump terminated the North American Free Trade Agreement, the trade deal struck under Clinton. The White House also included a line about how Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election in Bill Clinton’s description.

But for other Trump-friendly former presidents, such as Reagan, they receive more of a doting description...."

I cannot wait for the history books, which will last longer.

This is insane.

If you watch the quick video here:

https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/national-international/trump-writes-partisan-plaques-predecessors-newly-installed-presidential-walk-of-fame/4030828/

You'll see that there's a doorway just to the left of Trump's second portrait. He's left no room for the president who will come after him. He doesn't care a bit about the presidency - it's all about him.

The “waste” gets worse because these will never even enter service, but billions will be spent before the next administration cancels the project. And the next-gen destroyers the Navy actually needs will be further delayed.

Imagine being low-level program officer at the Pentagon, or engineer at one of the contractors, knowing that the next few years of your working life will be completely pointless.

Good time to be a defense contractor. Billions of dollars wasted on “cool looking” Warships and a guarantee that the next president will still have to fund the defense items we actually need

More details emerge on the biggest fraud of the Trump administration. So many were fooled by DOGE but it was mostly smoke and mirrors of phony cancellations, double counting and things that cost the government.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/12/23/us/politics/doge-musk-trump-analysis.html

Mr. Musk had said that DOGE would be “the most transparent organization in government ever,” and that it would bring the precision of the tech world to government. Instead, the group became opaque, with its lack of progress obscured by errors, redactions and indecipherable accounting that few private businesses would accept.

Ukraine has been effective in using inexpensive aerial and naval drones to destroy and disable Russia's big expensive ships and submarines. Trump is out of touch with the current state of naval combat.

Don the Con hasn’t met a fraudster yet that he won’t pardon.

He just pardoned another guy that his justice department charged with trying to rig the bidding for a sports arena.

Trump admin was touting the case as a success! Oops. All that government work gone to waste.

Social Security has gotten worse under Trump
Customer service has deteriorated by key measures as the agency enacted sweeping cuts in Trump’s second term, internal data and interviews show.
https://www.washingtonpos...er-service

So many more problems at social security under Trump. I bet they will need a big cash infusion to fix this mess.

Authorizing 1000s of hours of overtime because of too much attrition. Wait times are way up. Assigning 1000s of people to
Answer phones with no training and telling them to keep calls to 7 minutes (volume over quality).
