freddie and fannie has a lot of loafers. Used to work there as a director and there would be weeks when I wouldn't do anything and noone would notice. Most of the telework employees don't work or just 2-3 hours a day. Significant cuts need to happen to make the organization more efficient.

Freddie already made a lot of cuts from 2021 to 2024. Has also called back employees to office from 2022.

Fannie Mae employees were all remote for 5 years since 2020, until Pulte order them RTO in March 2025. More cuts need to be made at Fannie to make it efficient.
Fannie and Freddie have a different model, so don’t assume cuts need to be made at both. I would think only Fannie is the one where cuts need to be made.

Remote employees have an ultimatum to move to either DMV or Texas locations before 10/1 or leave the job. A lot of cuts would be made as people won’t move to be RTO.

More administrative leave packages each Friday at Fannie. I don't work there but two friends last week and my brother this week. He said his supervisor didn't know and was genuinely shocked or is an amazing actor. He had to text supervisor to say that he would not be attending meetings so she needed to show up to cover or assign someone because all access was cut off immediately.

Texas would be an awesome quality of life upgrade from DC.

Shares of Fannie Mae (OTCQB:FNMA) surged 7.3% and of Freddie Mac (OTCQB:FMCC) climbed 5.6% after the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency was reported as saying he found "a couple hundred million dollars" of savings at government-sponsored enterprises that the agency oversees.

Next week details come out

fannie and freddie are the most bloated organizations you would ever see. I used to work there and you can can get rid of 2/3 of the staff and it would still do fine.

"Working" at fannie and freddie is a misnomer.

It is retirement, where you go hand out with others on the days that you want to come to office.

I had a staff of 13 doing the work of 4. When I questioned it I got in trouble and offered more staff.

Will Trump’s suggestion taking Fannie public lead to more workforce cut?

Director has been saying he will trim fat. That means reducing some numbers of employees. One way to make the enterprises more appealing to investors

You do know they created an entire company do do the whole back end process stuff called Common Securitization solutions and removed that work from Fannie and Freddie. Yet Fannie and Freddie did not lay anyone off. That is crazy The bloat is nuts.

NCUA in their study found it takes four employees to do the work of one employee in the private sector. It is outdated, slow, manual process, and top heavy with uneeded levels of management. They are operating with 1980s technology with a lot of older workers unwilling to adapt to modern time.

Can you imagine 1,000 people doing the work of 250 people? Not the staff fault at all. They are stuck with ancient systems and multiple layers of reviews
