Let me know when DOGE makes any meaningful cuts at the Pentagon. Something tells me it will be magically immune from all this. Meanwhile he’s trashing people’s careers by cutting things that barely put a tiny dent in our spending. That is the problem with all this — the hypocrisy will become impossible to ignore when you see what isn’t being targeted. |
Biden had a low approval rating because he was a poor leader of the people at his elderly age. Obama faced the similar ridiculousness during his presidency. Remember, he was accused of being an America hating Muslim with a fake birth certificate... none of the silly rhetoric prevented him from having a 50% approval rating and easily winning a second term. Plug Obama into the exact same 2021-2024 political and economic landscape and he certainly does not exit the race for a second term 3 months prior to Election Day. He beats the weak and very flawed GOP candidate in a landslide victory. Quality of candidate is more important than anything else- by far! |
Its been a month and people talk about DOGE like its a post mortem on failure. Lets see if they meaningfully cut spending in DoD, Department of Education, HHS, etc. We have a $2T annual deficit, and our largest spending departments cannot pass an audit. We all should be cheering on an attempt to get reckless spending under control. Trump campaigned on Musk leading this task, voters got what they were advertised (this President Musk BS is absurd). Let’s see if they can deliver, and all hope they do. |
It's really not |
Here’s a bit of news for you: meta, twitter and Amazon aren’t the only tech companies in the US. Hundreds of thousands, very close to a million white collar jobs were eliminated during the Biden administration. That you won’t acknowledge that reality is why people here have zero empathy with what is happening now with Feds. |
Nice jingoism you have there. |
DP. DEI is gone, baby, haven't you heard? We can say what we want now. Like that DOGE kid. |
Sure. And I’m the King of Mars. |
How do you reconcile this with the proposed tax cuts and adding tens of trillions to the deficits as a result? |
Hi. Survivor of dictatorship here. The resemblance is uncanny and that's where we are headed in the US |
Tax cuts to people who already are awash in cash, and hence, will not be spent to grow the economy. If you want to juice the economy, its well established that tax cuts should go to the bottom economic tier, since that money will be spent immediately on basic needs. Giving additional tax cuts to the rich does nothing, since it will simply be squirreled away in cash or offshore investments. |
I’m guessing you must have just scraped through your degree with assistance from others. |
Exactly. It’s crystal clear that cutting expenses is not the true aim of DOGE. If it were, there wouldn’t be tax cuts on the table and Trump wouldn’t be jetting off to the Super Bowl or NASCAR races or to MAL at the cost of millions to the tax payer. The point is to cripple the government. The more it becomes dysfunctional, the more people will hate it and therefore look to an autocrat (Trump) to make decisions. Secondarily, the private sector can step in and certain people will make a ton of money doing the government’s job. This may sound good to you, but you won’t benefit, just a few already rich people who will become even richer. |
Explain how the Biden administration is responsible for the loss of those tech jobs. For example, some foreign billionaire AH buying a functioning tech company and subsequently laying off most of its workforce out of spite isn’t the fault of the Biden administration, even if it occurred during the Biden administration. A counter example (in which the job losses ARE the fault of the contemporaneous administration) would be a sitting President appointing some foreign billionaire AH with explicit instructions to lay off X% of the Federal workforce out of spite. |
