Whittle

From the complaint: "Although Plaintiffs were ultimately able to obtain a short-term forbearance agreement from a new senior lender and the two existing junior lenders, in May 2022, the cost of doing so was prohibitive and Plaintiffs suffered tens of millions of dollars of damages as a result of CBRE’s wrongful conduct and the Whittle School’s collapse."

Very different picture from that painted by WSS in a triumphant email earlier this summer talking about the "successful recapitalization of the real estate" and trying to link it to their broader "capital plan". The truth always finds a way out in the end..

Interesting that Whittle located right across the street from the Chinese embassy.

Hope this works. Well worth a read.

"CBRE concealed, lied about and misrepresented to Plaintiffs the true facts surrounding the Whittle School’s financial distress and operational problems, including, but not limited to, its undercapitalization from day one."

Probably at this point no one would prefer it. There might be a few who feel like they have no other options (maybe neighborhood school has safety issues, is a horrible fit.for some reason, etc).

But even if they had students, who in the world would be willing to work there? There's a huge teacher shortage. They could go literally anywhere. Why would anyone work at Whittle?

Some teachers prefer autonomy even though the paychecks are unsteady.

Seriously? In this economy?

Private schools aren’t as autonomous re:curriculum as they claim, and no sane teacher would prefer whatever Whittle is selling over a steady position

Especially since, with Whittle, starting in September you may not have a building to work in. That's a fairly serious inconvenience.

Whittle is not selling anything to employees, I do not get why any would stick around. Unsteady pay, lies and more lies and just recently Whittle has not deposited the match that is past due to all the active and inactive employees that participated in the 401K.

For those that are left at Whittle, is it Stockholm Syndrome? Why on earth would you stay? To continue to share in the collective trauma?

I'm just watching this in shock and awe. I was surprised by the recent tweets with so many students on campus. Seems like many stayed. Crazy. And how old is this dude if he was frauding in the 80s?

What autonomy? You mean no teaching or serious education?

Luckily for the Irish artists, the eviction hearings will begin well after their exhibition concludes!

Seems to be. Some teachers liked the fact that they did not have to follow a rigid curriculum and had more autonomy to structure their own classes.

To raise more Chinese embassy funding, all Mr Whittle will need to do is transform his “school and studios” to center its curriculum on “Xi Jinping Thought.”

Whittle has shut down as of 6PM today.
