Not quite true -- yes, they are nominated by coaches (I didn't address that), but if they were voted on by coaches, they no longer are.

Coaches only nominate players for All-Academic, and US Lacrosse reviews the merits of the applicants and chooses. It used to be that coaches also voted for this, but that was changed this year, or at least that it what I was told.

Either way it’s a tremendous honor and glad USA lacrosse recognizes these scholar athletes who are upper echelon in both lacrosse and academics

Fairfax County schools can only schedule 11. The loop hole is that they can schedule games then play in up to two tournaments, not to exceed 14 games. Robinson's non-district games included Madison, McLean, Yorktown, Langley, and Cosby. With seven district games and nine games scheduled for Robinson, they could only play teams who were either in the McLean/Robinson spring break tournament or the South County tournament. Robinson had a long running series against Landon and has played Prep. I think they still would if they could. Robinson would beat Riverside.

Those tournaments really aren’t competitive. Would rather see one challenging game, like Landon, GP or even Heights, than three games that are over in the first quarter. Quality over quantity. Maybe next season.

Severna Park HS up in the Baltimore area has an amazing lacrosse program. Would be fun to see them play some NOVA teams next year in a "tournament" game.

Yes they do and it would be great for NOVA teams to play them.

BUT what benefit do THEY get by playing NOVA teams? THEY would get more playing privates and not mostly what would be a scout team for them.

Severna Park beat Madison by 1 goal this season, so maybe the match would be closer than you think.

They also had a first year coach and got better later in the season and won the State title. If they played Madison later it would have been a blowout.

always wondered why Ffx county caps at 11 when 14 games are needed to be eligible for post season? Is it just cynical view that they don’t want to pay for officials so they make schools fork out for those tournaments to fill the gap?

14 games are not needed to be eligible for the postseason. it was changed during some budget crises many moons ago (i believe for lacrosse only now), and the coaches have never banded together to get it changed.

for the record, it's not that restrictive and that may be why it has never changed. mandated conference games are tiny (5?), so you get another 4 ooc games, and then 5 for 2 tournaments... and the "tournament" games can be played within 7 days before or after each... @ any location. with singular games against anyone, if they chip in the $1-200 for the "tournament". it's mostly just a pain in the ass for ffx schools.

no, there is no validity to your trolling. go back to trolling Indy, or perhaps go hang at the pool and take a break from lacrosse for awhile?
