2024 Boys Private School Results /Game Schedules/ Commentary

Coaching at the HS level is very over rated. Only dads who think they know the game even care about the actual coaching. Truth is players win and good programs are able to get good players. A coaches ability to recruit matters. The ability to build a good culture matters. Look at SJC where are they without the good players? PVI had clueless coaches for years but win with talent. Coaching is not going to make a difference look for the teams getting the best surrounding cast of players.

Coaching at PVI has cost them games. It’s makes a difference.

He was at Saint Andrew’s for 3 years and did a great job there but the ceiling at a MAC program is not that high.

I don’t know of any IAC jobs opening up next spring.

Maybe if King from GZ decides to throw in the towel that would be an attractive opening….

Mid 30’s with 2 kids and camps. he’s moving on to college.

He might stick around for free GC tuition.

Should be interesting with a new coach this season.

Yes good players are very important but coaching is very important. Great coaches put their players in positions to succeed regularly.

PVI will not be as strong as they were last season. I do not see them beating GZ 2x's however they also do not have a ton of 2024 players. They do have a good 25 and even better 26 class so with solid coaching they could rise to the top of the WCAC

Think of this; where are most of the top players in the 26, 27, 28 and 29 classes going to school?
In the DC area, they are either at in no particular order:
Gonzaga
Georgetown Prep
St Johns
Landon
Bullis
St. Albans
PVI.

Even Dane's first real class 26 or 27 he did not get any of the top players from local teams. He did transfer 1 good player from DC Express in December from the 26 class.
He is a great recruiter and since he is in the admissions staff, he will be able to get the kids he wants in, very easily.

Lacrosse is not the end all be all, remember these boys are STUDENT Athletes, with the emphasis on student first. All of the schools listed above have stronger education than Good Counsel.

So if your DS is a top level player in the DC area (especially Maryland side of the Bridge) Good Counsel is and will be a "B" level lacrosse program. They are great at football, basketball and baseball and all of the girls sports.

You cannot really include PVI in this or to some extent GC as they are not in the same Geography. Last few seasons all of PVI top players are from Loudoun with one or two from Fairfax county. Zero MD players. GC is upper Mont. Co so the pool of the players is just different and not competing with each other

Why would a top player go to STA?

They are coming.

He lives in Rockville. No chance he’s commuting into the heart of dc.
