What age or size range?

Snow coat or more dressy coat?

Can you give us an example, like a link, to one that you find tacky?

Yes-- we need to know age range and what kind of style you'd prefer.

When I wanted more stylish coat options for my DD than the pink/purple foofy stuff, I went to Zara and Benetton Kids.

OP here - sorry, I'm just frustated.

I want an everyday coat (I've got a few dressy coats for her). She is a size 4, but everything looks like this

I just want something that is tasteful (and hopeful without fur).

What's don't you like about the second coat?

It looks like it is made out of cheap material - maybe it's just that it doesn't photograph well (so if someone who has it can tell me different). My daughter likes to wear a lot of dresses/legging outfits in the winter (ok, that is ALL she wears) - so I'm trying to find something that is on the dressier side - but that she can still wear every day.

This coat has been my white whale.

She wants pink (of course) and I want it to have a hood (because she won't wear hats - curly hair).

Tasteful means different things to different people. Can you be more specific?

No fur, got it.
Cheap material, a bit in the eye of the beholder.
No quilting or quilting okay?
Wool better than down/stuffed?

Quilting ok - I don't hate it.
Wool is way better than down stuffed. I like matte and darker toned pink better than the bright and plastic looking pink.

I prefer solids -

My daughter has a warm down park from LL Bean. For us, ability to stay warm while playing in the snow is key, and her coat from LL Bean has worked great. In past years we've found similarly warm choices at Lands' End. It looks like they may not have all their winter options up on the website yet, since it's early.

(BTW, your dd will be wearing snowpants or snowbib if it snows, right? So in that case, a less dressy coat will match just fine.)

Fake fur trim seems to be everywhere, but it's often removable.
