ECNL moving to school year not calendar

That’s a really long time to be “trying out” or practicing with another club while also playing with your own team (depending on age I guess you could have the HS break in there).

ECNL players can switch clubs mid season. In Socal HS soccer is late Nov through late Jan. This means you start speaking to coaches now. Also GA players can switch to ECNL via Discovery at any time of year and roster the next day.

1. Do you think clubs will keep rosters the same?

2. Do you think clubs will build the strongest possible teams?

How does a club approach this change?

I would imagine top clubs like SD Surf, SLSG, FC Stars, PDA will keep teams the same so that they can play other clubs older players?

I have a trapped G2010 and I reached out to several top 2011 coaches.

The 2011 coaches referred me to their 2010 coaches or their DOC. When I spoke with them on the phone they all offered a tryout assessment. The all also said that they don't know what will happen with BY v SY.

These are some of the top clubs in the nation. If they don't know what will happen with BY and aren't specifically looking for trapped players. The idiots that are saying SY is a lock aren't being honest.

First tryout is at 4:30 today. PST

I would imagine coaches have been told to not say a word bc it will cause chaos.

There will be chaos regardless. Parents of kids both trapped and not trapped now need to plan for scenario A, B, C and D

If this was true DOCs would be looking for and recruiting trapped players.

This is not happing.(right now)

My kid is playing 2012 and will now be a 2014. I have had 3 coaches reach out. Top Top clubs. DOnt call us we will call U.

Multiple coaches (and docs) said the same things and reacted the same way. They have no idea if BY will stay or if things will get changed. They're also not making any dramatic changes to accommodate a potential change.

My take on it is that ECNL wants a change but to do this they need to make friends with other leagues and entities that don't really like them. This is a difficult hole to dig your way out of.

And how exactly do they do that?
Let some of their boys programs go MLS Next?

Make deals with USYS and GA clubs (entry to ECNL) and in exchange these clubs will lobby their respective leagues to go SY?

Umm that is not true. They will play with older 2013s and other trapped 2012s.

Don’t spread false info.

The DCUM person that made up emails from "So cal league" got away with it here. On Socal soccer forum they called it out.

This is what all the rational people are saying.

ECNL is not going to get the change for free. They're going to need to cut deals to make everyone change.

Notice how ECNL is approaching the topic. They're not trying to work with US Soccer or GA. They are trying to overwhelm US Soccer with requests. This is combative not inclusive.

Even if it works it's going to piss US Soccer off which will create even more issues down the road.

Socal email is real. The admin of a Socal club confirmed it in a FB group.

Are you referring to the same person that posted proof on TS?

The only thing that was proven was that SOCAL league was requesting feedback from their member clubs on if they support staying BY or if they'd like to change to SY.

The other emails from "So cal league" were all faked by someone with a SY agenda.

I don’t know if anyone else reads comments but on one of the X posts about this there is a guy who commented he’s hearing this is a done deal you do some digging and you find out he’s on the SOCAL soccer board.

I’m from Southern California my daughters coach is also on the board for SOCAL according to him it’s highly likely the change happens but he thinks there’s a strong possibility it’s not mandated until Fall 26/27. More than likely the academy leagues will start Fall 25.

In football terms it’s 2-0 lead for SY 15 min left but the games not over until it’s over.

Look how things have changed, now the BY people are the ones with tin foil hats making up conspiracy’s. The So Cal email was real, the DPL post was real. This is all happening people get ready for it.

Let's put some context into your second hand rumor that your repeating.

SOCAL League is a regional league in Southern California. Both ECNL and SOCAL use US Club Soccer for sanctioning. There's 17 more regional leagues like SOCAL that make up NPL.

This is why ECNL is buddying up with SOCAL and I'd assume the other NPL regional leagues. Together they'd make up a large number of players to lobby US Soccer for a change.

Again, though. Just because ECNL and SOCAL leagues are maybe aligned there's still several more leagues that will need to be reached out to.

It will be interesting to see how/if ECNL gets other leagues to align. Will they pay them cash? Will there be a whole bunch of new ECNL clubs next season?
