I had an abortion at 19 and personally believe that the fetus's soul has gone on to a spirit world. A friend of mine who had an abortion, but has not yet had children believes that the soul will return again in her future child. This is such a taboo topic, but I imagine that most women who have had abortions have had some thoughts about what happens to their fetus after an abortion. |
I don't think the baby has a soul until its born |
During the abortion, the soul is vacuumed out along with the fetus by the abortion doctor but is stored in a separate container. If the power goes out for an extended period of time, all of the glowing green souls get out and damage stuff and scare people just like in the movie Ghost Busters. |
Pro choice here an think that's absurd. Not sure I believe in souls. If there is such a thing then I think an aborted fetus goes either back to where it came from or onto where we all go after death. |

Like all beings, the energy simply rejoins the energy of the universe and becomes another form. I don't believe in a "soul" as such - at least not as something that is permanently associated with an individual. We're more like drops of rain. Ultimately, we return to the ocean, where we are once again evaporated into rain, only to return to the ocean again. This is the natural way of things. |
A soul = belief in a G-d
Belief in your G-d = no abortion Nothing you have to worry about. Don't foist your believing in the supernatural upon others Do you have a forwarding address for lost soul? |
What is a "soul"? A ghost? |
Do identical twins get half a soul each? |
That does present a philosophical problem. I suppose he could put in two. But if God puts two souls in an embryo which he knows will split, why would he bother putting any soul into an embryo not destined to make it to term? |
How is the fate of the soul different when there is a miscarriage? |
Exactly, these ladies should be worrying about THEIR souls, not their babies'. |
I don't believe in souls, plain and simple. When you die, you die, and that's the end of it.
FWIW, I've never had an abortion. |
I believe, this, too. I also wouldn't terminate a pregnancy for non-medical reasons at the point where I believed the fetus had gained what I'll call "individual spirit," so I don't think anything happens to it. If I had to terminate for non-medical reasons, I'd believe the same thing I believe about other people dying: their "spirit" remains near us because the atoms that constituted their bodies are recombining all around us and contributing to further life. That may sound cold to people who believe in god or heaven, but it's actually a very comforting and positive vision for me. |
What are you talking about? |
