Gabby won it! Gold medal in women's all around. I am soo proud.
Raisman will not medal because of a technicality, but she tried. |
| Yes!!! |
| Yay gabby! We've really been pulling for her - so happy! |
| So excited for Gabby! I was watching online and they weren't providing a ton of commentary -- anyone know how Aly tied for 3rd and what tiebreaker was used that bumped her to 4th? I seem to recall in past Olympics that they have awarded more than one color medal... |
| pp, Mustafina had more dificult moves than Aly did. |
The tiebreaker was on execution scores, not difficulty. Most of Aly's routines (except bars) were more difficult. YAY GABBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| One thing that is positive about the Russians is that Mustafina is Muslim, I hope that more women from Muslim countries get inspired by her. |
No, they were not. The only more difficult routine was vault. |
Now I've read the tie-break may be on the 3 highest scores, not the execution scores. At any rate, Aliya's difficulty scores were: 5.8 vault/7.0 bars/6.1 beam/5.9 floor. Aly's difficulty score were: 6.5 vault/5.9 bars/6.2 beam/6.3 floor. Therefore, Aly's difficulty scores were higher on all but bars. |
What were the execution scores? |
|
You can see all of the score here:
http://www.gymnasticsresults.com/olympics/2012/wag/aaf.html (I'm just too lazy to copy them into the post). And it does look like the tiebreaker is that they take the 3 highest scores, not the total of the execution scores. |

Hmm, 168 view and only 10 responses - most of which are about another person - who did not win a medal.
Interesting. |
I know. First DCUM post to ever go off topic and not stay true to the OPs post. Interesting. |
| Yay for the flying squirrel from Va Beach!! |
| She still has beam and bar on Saturday. She could pick up another gold on bar, unlikely on beam, but she could easily medal in the two. |
