| Am adult played the recorder? On the radio? Why????? |
Because they're running desperately low on material. Maybe I'm just naive, but I thought they used to have interesting conversations. Now it feels forced and so boring. |
The show has been out of material because no one there can think on their own and come up with REAL segments or topics to discuss. If the demographic ratings were public, I suspect you would see a drop month to month, quarter to quarter, etc, because people are tired of it. |
Mel is back in Florida, and if you really thought this was Sarah and actually listening to her podcast, you would have known this. There have been over 50K downloads of her podcast between the platforms being used (it isn't just iTunes), and the fact that their live podcast show sold out within hours speaks volumes of the following she has. Quit assuming that Sarah is posting on here for promotion. She does enough promotion between her Twitter and FB platforms which has a huge following as it is. |
You are honestly way too defensive about this for someone who claims to be just another listener of the podcast. Why would you even take the time to research how many downloads they have and all that. The podcast is ok but I find Sarah and Sammy whiny and bitter. Good luck getting another job in radio; they've proven that as soon as they're let go they talk shit about their bosses and spill all their secrets. Not professional. |
I think the show has definitely gotten more generic as it has grown to cover more radio stations. Aside from Danni's odd and uncomfortable conversations about periods and her desperate sex life, most of the topics and call-in bits deal with generic scenarios, which I think is the standard of most syndicated shows. It can't really compare to Sarah's podcast since they are a podcast and not a radio show and can say what they want, swear when they want, and don't really have to worry about the same rules. In that regard, the podcast comes across as more authentic rather than a rehearsed morning show doing fake call-ins and prepared topics where you have each person take a specific side of the argument even if it goes against what they have said previously (i.e. Danni approving cheating some times and other times saying she is against it). I think the most genuine and interesting conversation I can recall them having in the last several months was when John brought up the fact that he was against poor people using money provided to them by the government or others to buy lottery tickets, and Danni vehemently disagreed telling Kane and John that they had no idea what it was like to be poor. There was real interaction between them when that happened, but Kane cut them off and went to a song, and came back, said he didn't like where it was heading, and dropped the topic. Conversations like that actually make you think, but a show like Kane's as it has become with the syndication will avoid difficult topics like this and focus on keeping everything light-hearted. The show has definitely changed over the years, and I think a lot of it has to do with the syndication aspect. While we often only remember the best parts, the earlier days with Sarah losing her license for too many tickets, Samy always talking about his drug use, getting beating up at a bar, etc. There were definitely fake bits going on then as well (didn't Sarah do something to Samy's Smart Car at some point which obviously was made up), but the topics were generally more engaging and edgier before syndication if I recall correctly. And honestly, it is also gets more difficult over time to keep the material fresh, unique, and funny. I guess it is no different than a long running TV show, which eventually grows tired and fails to reinvent itself. |
I agree that something went down with Danni and Laura. Today, Laura was on the show and the conversation was about relationships, engagements, etc. and Danni was SILENT. Like, I thought she wasn't even on the show today because she said nothing. IJ was gushing about Laura, as always, and Rose did her typical "awwwwww". But not a peep from Danni. Stuff like that makes it very odd and uncomfortable to listen to. If the current crew isn't jiving well, get a new crew Kane! I've said it before on here, if Kane has the right people, he has a pretty good show. This current group is not a good fit anymore. You can cut the tension with a knife sometimes! |

I disagree about the Sarah show being whiny and bitter. I think they have addressed the problems in radio, saying that's why they've decided to do a podcast. Sarah turned down a job at 107 because she wanted to do something different. Doesn't seem like either one of them have any desire to go back again.
As far as the Kane show being stale, I totally agree. I don't give a fuck that Tim has an interview and that Sally is on her way to the gym, but it seems like that's 40% of the show. The segments that they do are scripted, and the topics that they discuss are so rehearsed it doesn't seem like a genuine dialogue. And the recorder bit. My god, who's idea was that? |
Oh, come on! They are playing that STUPID 'Sweatpants Song' again! WHO THE F CARES ABOUT DANNI'S PERIODS!?!?!?
|
Obviously the 98% of the rest of their listening audience. Its funny to see you guys come to whine on here. They don't care, as many mentioned on here if you dont like something dont listen. Its 2016, i refuse to believe that you guys are "stuck" to listening the show. Lots of podscasts including Sarahs ( no im not Sarah), music on ipod, other radio shows, i heart radio itself which has many shows to listen to, so hush. |
That's easy enough to explain. If people couldn't bitch about this then they'd just find the next thing to bitch about. |
I agree |
you absolutely summed up how i feel about it |
Agreed agreed agreed! |
if you aren't Sarah she might need a restraining order against you. Why do you have all this information? creepy AF. |
