Yes. Lots of surgeries. They take themselves seriously but no one in the dance world does. They are kinda a joke.

C-Unit is great if you want your child to be berated and screamed at. Avoid at all costs! Huge waste of time and money - incredibly toxic environment.

Don't forget the entrenched body dysmorphphia.

If you are not one of their top 5-10 students you will be ignored. The training is not as good as their marketing.

We've had a reasonably good experience with City Dance this year for my middle schooler as a new student to the studio (previously was at a smaller studio). The structure and communication hasn't been perfect, but they seem to be building out their sort of middle road option (Senior Studies - not as intense as the conservatory, but the same teachers, high quality and plenty of options). If you talk with their program director she can be very helpful. I guess it depends on what you're looking for - some classes are big, some are small - is your child hoping to go professional (in which case I think you'd need to be one of their top students to get extra attention), or just looking for high quality instruction for an activity that they enjoy.

The problem with CityDance is that their endowment is big enough that the quality does not have to be good. They just crank through dancers knowing outcome or how the kids enjoy the experience just doesn't matter. The money isn't tied to delivery. I would recommend you find a solid privately owned studio for a better experience.
