There's a couple of different listservs depending on your area-there's one for BCC, one for the town of Somerset and one for Chevy Chase West. For the latter two, an existing member has to verify that you live in the catchment zone. |

I really don't get why you would need a moderator to edit posts actively on a non-anonymous board of neighbors. My maryland chevy chase listserv has maybe one or two posts a year that the moderator scolds about- and reminds people of the rules of the forum (ex: this year it was people posting too aggressively to boost a local candidate). |

I am the person behind THE Chevy Chase Google Group.
the OTHER moderator banned me b/c she said my signature would not go thru. So I told her to edit it out as she had done other posts of mine. She then said if I don't sign my posts w/o a signature, as she wants, then she will remove me. (then I called her out for changing her story / reason and lying) I have had DOZENS of people share stories since last week. Banning a local Liberian for using ALL CASP in reference to reading books. Here is my one from today: When she ruined a post about "March for Our Lives" (anti-gun violence) by calling it "March for Life" (the annual pro-life march), but then she refused to post the correction because SHE had made the error. When I asked her repeatedly to please post a follow-up to clarify the mistake, she responded: " Catherine, it was my mistake, not [original poster's]. I don't want to see her get the blame. I haven't seen this mistake any other time on the list so I will make an effort not to let it happen again. Thanks, Mary Rowse, Moderator." Right. So post the correction! She never did. [u] I am not checking or approving every message. As adults, we can agree to disagree on topics. I will step in if people bully or are inappropriate. Moderating from a far. | I am so glad you started a separate group. I was kicked off of the CCDC list serv by the moderator when I complained about a racially insensitive posting that basically amounted to racial profiling. So, the moderator blocked me from future posting and seeing the posts, which I reported to the ward 3 councilmember. But, I think he wanted to stay in the good graces of the moderator since she posts notices about anc meetings, I received no reply. She is tyrant. I sure hope someone sends her this thread. |

This is exactly the case also with the “Cleveland Park” list serv (quotes because it is essentially a NW DC list serv, as only a minority of users live in Cleveland Pk). The moderator spikes messages or twists arcane rules to avoid posting a point of view with which she disagrees. As a result, most serious discussion of local issues stopped several years ago. But if you’re cleaning out your basement and want to give away some old stuff, the list serv is useful. |

There is plenty of good material to be had on that listserv, but you're not pulling it off with your creation, if you are "Best of Chevy Chase" yourself, PP. Pretty crap job of pointing out the flaws of listserv members when you are so embarrassingly flawed yourself. Way too much cackling and not enough insight. You sound like just another run of the mill a-hole. Too bad. I was wholly ready to embrace your creation and dig in for a good read. No thanks. |

How can we find out who the author of "Best of Chevy Chase (DC) Listserv" is? I'd like to know your name -- at least your first name. I think that's only fair. Anyone know how to find out who is responsible for a twitter account? I really want to know, and I'm going to find out. |
