How often do you replace your cutlery?

My inlaws have had the same cutlery set for 45 years.

I have lost a piece or two over the years when I entertained. I think guests accidentally throw them away.

Never. Stuff I got for wedding 15 years ago is still like new.

If what you mean is flatware, OP, I don't think I'll ever want to replace mine. I still like it better than anything else I've seen. It has a nice weight in my hand and is a simple and elegant pattern.

At one point I was down to only 6 or so teaspoons. I lucked out and found somebody selling 8 place settings on Craigslist for something like $100 a few years ago.

And food that requires flatware is not eaten in the car. Wtf?

Just started fresh after 20 years..we had lost enough forks to notice. Impressed with all the people who never accidentally lose a utensil to the garbage.,,,or?

We bought a new set about 12 years ago. At the time our flatware was a mishmash of the set I bought when I started college (3-4 place settings), the set DH had from college (another 3-4 place settings), some extra hand-me-downs, and few random pieces.

The new set is still going strong and I see no reason to replace it any time soon. I have replaced a couple of individual serving pieces that got lost at potlucks.

Other than serving pieces, though, I don't take it out of the house. I use plasticware if I need to eat on the go (car or picnics) and office supplies if I'm eating at work.

No. Not sure how one would go about losing cutlery. To the PP who takes it to work: I do keep a set in my work desk, but that stays at work, along with a bowl I use for soups. And to PP who eats her lunch in her car - why? That sounds kind of sad... And no, I don't get tired of looking at the same cutlery for 45 years. Not sure I look at it all that much - too busy eating. It is a fairly simple design, so it's not particularly noticeable.

Ours is 14 years old and still chugging along. No plans to replace it ever. We did add a set of cutco table knives, which are sharpened about every two years; they replaced one or two at some point.

I don't lose silverware! We have a set of cheap but still metal kids' silverware from ikea that the kids take to school or use if I pack them a yogurt to eat before practice. But all of that stuff seems to make it home too! Maybe you need some plastic flatware?

FWIW, my parents are still using the flatware the received for their wedding in 1969. It still looks great! I know that mom added an extra 10-12 spoons at some point and she also has cutco table knives.

Yes it all matches. I got Oneida for my wedding and haven't replaced it since. it's all in perfect condition and there are 12 of everything. If I lose any I would replace.
