Why is the gap on Madonna's front teeth widening?

Anonymous
I wonder if she's lost some teeth in the back and her teeth are shifting due to the extra space....

Your teeth change as you age.

Ordinarily, I find tooth gaps very attractive. Madonna, however, hard faced and desperate-looking. All the plastic surgery in the world can't save a white woman past age 30.

Huh. Speaking of Madonna, check out this story about her losing custody of her 16 year old son to Guy Ritchie.

Sounds like a lot of their problems started when the kid wouldn't do his homework and as a punishment she took away his phone. I don't think that's crazy, actually. It sounds like her son turned out kind of mean, calling himself "a son of a bitch" on Instagram and posting the taunt "I'm staying here, bro" when it was supposed to be time for him to return to Madonna in NY and he decided not to go. I feel bad for her. So many celeb parents are too lax even though the temptations and pitfalls for their kids are much bigger than for regular kids. I appreciate her for having standards.

What a depressing read. I'm only 35, and my teeth have already shifted horribly the last few years. I did a consult with an orthodontist a couple months ago, and it would cost too much to fix at this time (currently SAHM to avoid daycare costs for 3). Maybe in a few years when I can work full time again. We have great insurance, but apparently hardly any dental insurance covers ortho work for adults, which is awful!

I dunno, I don't think the gap has gotten much bigger over the years, honestly. For a while she was wearing that grille, maybe she was trying to close it a bit?

Because it happens with age! Gums recede, etc. Simple answer. I suspect your question was rhetorical however.

My mom has a gap and it's been getting wider as she ages. It's quite simple, really. Things shift with age. I would find it hilarious if someone asked if my mom was somehow making the gap in her teeth wider just for attention. What a bizarre thing to think!

Why does this happen?

Gums become looser? Doesn't your dentist do the gum measuring thing?

Her gums might be receding and making it more pronounced.

The front tooth gap runs in my family. DD has it. Should I close it? She looks really cute with it.

Gap are genetic. Grandma had it dad had it I have it and now dd has it. They get bigger as you age. My grandma looks like she has a full tooth missing.

I feel like Shannon Doherty had the same problem/issue.

as you age your bones begin to weaken and become thinner, as do your muscles and skin in general. this bone loss and muscle loss will cause teeth to shift big time.

I plan to get a retainer actually to help keep my teeth in their current position. I'm 51.

I'm an adult about to begin orthodontics for my teeth shifting. I had braces 30 years ago as a teenager.

I talked to my dentist and kids' orthodontist in 2016 to see what is best for me. Your teeth are shifting 24/7/365. It isn't something that magically stops when you get braces off, turn 18, turn 21, etc.
