| Sorry, Arlington peeps, I hate to break it to you, but the tech bros will predominantly want to live in DC. They'll send their kids to Sidwell and the like, so DC public schools don't matter to them. |
Good don’t need douches here. |
| LOCATION, OP. That house sold for the easy commute into the DC and good schools. |
I think this sweet little house is so much more charming and well planned out than the soulless, ill planned new builds. This is timeless. |
|
That sb listed as $1.1M.
They listed lower bc another home sold $804K near by in March. It's a good deal for both homes, actually. |
| I know bc I'm obsessed with 22207 for a decade now! |
This is not a teardown. You sound like a spoiled brat. |
+1 I thought this was a rather cute little house. |
| It’s kind of depressing how many people hope that cute, small homes (often suitable for young families) are torn down so they can be replaced by $$$$ behemoth houses. |
Once AI causes mass layoffs, the tech bros won't need to pay $3.5 million for a house. There will be mass dislocation from this area, and they can pick up that house for a nice discount. |
No, you aren't crazy. OP was crazy for calling it a "tear down." There are some people here on DCUM that will call anything but a McMansion a tear down. |
IKR, it's a nice, convenient neighborhood, and a house is adequate size and condition. It has a very good workable floor plan for a family of 4, even a bedroom on the main floor. It's in good enough condition to move in without having to renovate right away, and renovate gradually while living there (like bathroom by bathroom, basement, etc). IDK where people get this idea that starter homes must be new construction mcMansions or fully remodeled 3k sq.ft older homes in premium areas. This is an SFH for a price of a rowhome. of course, it would get sold. |
AI won't cause mass layoffs, it might even create more jobs having to police AI use and accuracy of its output. There is already plenty of AI slop causing problems anywhere from tech to legal field. AI won't replace entire teams of workers, it's meant to augment |

I actually like this block a lot, and love That it’s got very original and Sweet charm. It’s close to great schools as well - excellent location! Definitely not a tear down, just needs painted and maybe a refresh

Professionally painted (exterior 2025, interior 2026) with refinished hardwoods throughout. Absolutely move-in ready with 4-bedrooms, 2.5-bath and many spaces in the right places for comfortable living. The heart of the home is a charmingly updated kitchen featuring new quartz countertops, a new dishwasher (2025) and plenty of cabinetry opening to a bright dining room. The kitchen transitions to a relaxing screened-in porch, stepping out to a private, fully fenced (2023) backyard. A woodburning fireplace is the focal point of a welcoming living room with an adjacent sunroom ideal for a second office, library, playroom or exercise room. A rare main-level bedroom/den and adjacent powder room offers a perfect guest room, while three bedrooms, en-suite primary bath and a hall bath occupy the upper level. The partially finished basement adds significant living space, featuring an additional office/library, a dedicated workroom, extra storage and a laundry area complete with an upright freezer. Major updates provide ultimate peace of mind, including a new AC (2024), Roof (2017) and Sump Pump (2020).
How it that a tear down? It somes like a house redone. |
