How does your “walker” get to W-L if you live slightly over a mile away?

My kids walked 1.5 miles in middle school with frequent afternoon pickups but sometimes walked home. It’s not unreasonable at all. It was nice suburban walk for them.

Not at all. Better here than Montreal. Or on the other end of the climate spectrum, Houston. Silicon Valley or San Diego weather would be nice, but it's not for everyone.

Not WL family but our kid rides a WMATA bus to home from school for free each day. We do morning drop off because sleep! Most of the wmata drivers do not even ask for the teenagers bus pass.

If your kid cannot prioritize a healthy 20-30 min walk in the morning then something is wrong.

When my kid went to middle school 1.2 miles away, I would typically drop her a few blocks away to avoid the carpool line. Or she would walk. A mile isn't that far and WL is surrounded by sidewalks.
