2033 Girl Team Options by Arlington

1) All the clubs in the US are ranked. For VA the list is as follows.
Stars 2033 - 41st in the country
Pride 2033 - 60th in the country
YJMA 2033 - 125 in the country

2) Someone said that 3D VA won the NGLL and went undefeated. That is incorrect. 3D Mid-Atlantic (Fredrick Maryland) won NGLL B division. 3D VA does not even play NGLL.

3) There was some back and forth about Stars and Pride games and I'm sure people will have opinions about the rankings. The fact is that Stars plays much higher ranked teams throughout the year in bigger tournaments gives them the higher ranking. Pride also plays stars with a win at all costs a style of play where 3 girls see the ball and everyone else basically stands around. Keep that in mind if you are hoping for a kid to go from Rec to Travel.

4) There is only 1 team with a field house (and a bar) and that's Stars. They practice year round. Not to mention it is Kathy Jenkins program, the head coach at SSSA and has 900 high school wins.

The 3D Mid-Atlantic team is a combined team consisting of the 3D MD (Frederick) and 3D VA (Loudoun-based) teams. They hold separate and combined practices in both locations. So yes, 3D VA played in the NGLL.

For Stars vs Pride, there have been a lot of mid-season Pride departures. Only Loudon ‘30 Pride did well in NGLL. None of the Pride teams play in the A bracket. For older girls where Pride has 2 teams, even their top teams (Premier) play in the B brackets. Their lower teams (Select) really get screwed over bc the fees are the same but they don’t include winter practices or NGLL.

You can try to make it sound however you want, but having 2 teams combined for certain things is exactly that. That is not the 3DVA team playing in NGLL, its some combination of players from all over 3D. Pride, Stars, BLC, M&D DC do not pull girls from other teams to play. So telling people they need to drive to Fredick to pratice is not a Arlington 33 team.

Like many others have said, every club has it's pros and cons. The most important thing to consider is the coaching staff and the culture they provide for your daughter. Easiest way to find that out is sign up for tryouts and talk to current parents on the team. Hopefully most coaches at this age level aren't promoting playing in college- they are teaching their girls how to compete, be strong and love the sport. However, this is travel so there are usually expectations of commitment and working on stick skills at home.

Re: Directors not living in the area anymore (3d and Pride)- this doesn't necessarily matter if you have an organized structure and solid coaches who know how to manage their teams.

Correction on the "FACTS" above: 3D Mid-Atlantic is half Virginia (Loudoun), and half MD (Frederick)- and they did indeed go undefeated in NGLL B and won the Championship as well. For those in VA looking, map it out. Loudoun is huge, so many of them commute 20-30 minutes even while living in the area. Arlington could be a hike, but if coming from the Fairfax area it isn't bad. There is an open practice on June 16th- link can be found on insta.

The 2033 3D team is not "combined for certain things." They are a full-time team who compete together for all things. That is why they are the "Mid-Atlantic" Team. They play together, period. This is the same group of girls who competed in the STJ winter league and all tournaments together for the past year. This team is also ranked higher than the other previously mentioned VA teams (if that is factor of consideration). Any interested player can practice in VA, with the VA contingent of the team (or MD, if that is closer).

If anyone has questions about practice locations, they should reach out to the coach and not listen to assumptions from a misinformed internet forum.

3D is a good option for those in Loudon. Pride will no longer exist in Loudon after this year.
Is the 3D team worth the extra long commute from Arlington to RavenTek Park vs something closer? I guess there is only one way to find out. Try out!

A full time team made up of two other full time teams playing part time for said full time team.

What are you even saying? None of the players play part-time..

Half of the team live in VA and primarily practices there, and the other half lives in MD, and primarily practices there. They all play games together as ONE team. There are no separate games.

Thank you for clarifying. Sounds like with 3D you practice with half your team then meet up with the other half at games. Cool.

Must be a large team then. To have enough kids to practice in two diff locations?

Right, it is pretty cool to be part of a supportive team that's willing to accommodate athletes and their families. It's also really cool to see the team's growth and development over the past year, going from a 3–5 record in the NGLL last season to finishing 11–0 as league champions just a few weeks ago (in the same division as the other VA teams previously mentioned). Even cooler and especially fun to watch the balanced team play, with 7–8 different goal scorers each game, along with a dominant defensive performance resulting in an 8–0 shutout of the top-seeded team in the championship game.

So yes, while Loudoun may not be the most convenient location for families in Arlington, the OP did ask about the 2033 3D VA/Mid-Atlantic team, which absolutely does exist. It won't be the right fit for every family, but it will be exciting to see how these girls compete this summer and continue to develop as a team.

How many kids make up this mid-atlantic team roster? And every single kid on this super supportive team that is driving miles to meet up with each other is getting the playing time to develop? I get that you don't have enough kids in either location to have a stand alone team yet, but still seems not the best situation to play with only half or less of your team most of the year, and then go to a tournament where 7-8 players score all the goals.

LOL these 3D moms are spiraling. They are not in the VA rankings because they are not a VA team. Their state says "XX" on USlax because its an all star team made up of kids from 2 different states. So they "do everything together period" but then you call each group its own "contingent". That is what we call a contradicting statement. Half the team has 3DVA jerseys and half have 3DMaryland jerseys. Never seen one team with 2 different jerseys and 2 different practice locations 1.5 hours apart either. You are trying to act like this is not an all star team in hopes of getting enough girls to come out and have VA break off and do their own thing, which is 10000% the plan. God Speed

Imagine getting so jammed up that you need to start posting B division stats on a message boards. Saying shit like "A dominant defensive performance" when talking about 10 year old girls. Clearly your daughter plays on the team and this is the most unhinged promotion I have ever seen. Ill go ahead and cross this off my list as I cant spend every weekend with people who refer to their 10 year old as an "athlete" LOLLLLL. You all need to get a grip.
