Went to Newport, RI twice and it just was not as amazing as people described it to be

It’s…Rhode Island, what do you expect lol?

Reminds me of that Wayne’s world quote…”I’m in….Delaware.”

Op here. Oddly, I absolutely loved Martha’s Vineyard FWIW. I enjoyed MV more than Nantucket and Cape Cod.

It is a go once or twice location, not a return to annually destination.

Guess you haven't traveled much! No, they're not, there isn't any good waves!

Hilton head and FL have the beaches on the east coast hands down.

Cape Cod beaches are the prettiest IMHO, but the water is a little too cool for me and I hear about too many sharks.. My favorite east coast beaches are on Cape Hatteras.

You shoulda been there 100 years ago, when it was really jumpin'. Been going slowly downhill since then.

Delawhere??? Yeah, it's the first state, but should not even be a state. It should be part of Maryland, as should Virginia's Eastern Shore. To be fair to Delaware, I like Fenwick Island and Bethany is OK. Other than that, when I think of Delaware, I think of Joe Biden- nice guy, decent President- especially if we're comparing to the current one. He just got in office too late, was too old. What I also think of regarding Delaware, and the reason I have contempt for it, is two tolls with an hour backup, to drive ten miles on 95.

Having gone to school near there and visited Newport many times, I agree. i really don't understand why people recommend it. the small downtown and shops are fine for a day but after that it is nothing special unless you are sailing.

The mansions can be fun to visit. Cliff Walk is lovely. Some lovely historic parts of the town. Great day trip destination. Wouldn't spend a week there. But what more were you expecting?

Totally get it OP! The less people in New England during the summer = the better!
