In Islam, dogs are considered unclean animals, and they are banned in some places. She is saying that NYC is coming around to the Muslim point of view, due to the excessive amount of dog poop on the street.

Further context for his comment is that in the UK, traditionally a very dog-loving country, there are efforts to ban dogs from public places because there are Muslims who don’t want to be exposed to dogs. This is commonly discussed on X. He is expressing his preference, given the woman’s post implying that NYC is coming around to that point of view.

To clarify the public places are food prep places and restaurants and shops. I found it a little alarming that there are animals behind the bar in Pubs and hotels b/c the culture is different. TBH while it is unhygienic, on this I think that British culture takes precedence. I mean in Muslim countries they have cats swarming everywhere and that is gross as well.

The context of the tweet he was replying to is that dog poop is piling up in NYC. As the snow melts, apparently a lot of frozen dog poop is being exposed because people didn't pick it up. It's gross and people are complaining. Earlier in the week a NYC councilman posted on x "Pick up your f****** dog s***.
