What on EARTH are you prattling on about.

Not OP but here

Yes, but for Republicans, this white Christian nationalist supremacist stuff isn't a bug, it's a feature.

He’s not a Christian. He’s one of Netanyahu’s soldiers.

He was responding to a text that said New Yorkers come to Islam and get rid of their dogs.

Context counts.

“One could say the same about all the democrats reacting to his post. “

Okay. Your motives are obvious. Most decent people will call out racism. I spent a lot of energy defending my Jewish friends growing up in a small southern town. I don’t expect them to turn around and pick on Muslims. We are all Americans and that’s all that counts.

That’s it. Everything else is fair game. Literally anything else is fair game.

Oh, please. Democrats in VA refused to condemn the Dem AG candidate for wanting to shoot a Republican member in the legislature in the head....

"[Speaker] Gilbert gets two bullets to the head."

"I will go to their funerals to piss on their graves"

And, then, they proceeded to elect this crazy person. Spare us your outrage.

I think there is a HUGE difference between saying something problematic in private vs.

Using your office and your public platform to publicly insult an entire religious minority.

The former is bad, the latter is abhorrent. Your whataboutism does you no favors.

People need to stop normalizing this behavior.

Oh, absolutely, I stole the quote from this:

When a Black family is loud at a restaurant, White people go “Wow, why are Black people all so loud?”
When a White family is loud at a restaurant, White people go “Wow, why is that family so loud?”

If this quote had included the word "some" in front of the two references to white people/white families, the quote would have been spot on. As it is, this quote suggests the same painting all of a certain identity with one brush bigotry as the quote is intending to make an example of.

The quote shows that White people give other White people the benefit of the doubt but (generally) assume the worst about people of color.

Nope. It was a sarcastic post and in no way justified his bigoted response. Stop defending hateful rhetoric.

It doesn’t matter! There is NO REASON for a congressman to post hate speech ever.

Sadly, there are more than a handful of GOP formal and informal communications that can be filed under this thread….

White person here and I can't say I disagree with this perspective. Dogs ARE unclean and don't belong in grocery stores, food service places etc. I would love it if we could go back to 1995 where it would be positively insane to bring your dog into a store. Have a dog as a pet at your home but the amount of public accommodations we're all supposed to make now for dogs is crazy.

Dogs can’t vote but Muslims can. They were a growing demographic group for Republicans.

Let’s see what happens now.
