Stop repeatedly pushing publics on posters who ask about privates.

Huh? I have never posted on this forum before or about this topic. I am just speaking the truth.

No one cares. No public is as good as Milton or BB&N or Fessy for K-8. Go back to Brookline or Newton.

NP. I bet Lexington public schools are way better than those!

You would be mistaken, between metco, teen pregnancy, and disciplinary issues. Also keep in mind too MA public schools are the worst pressure cookers without exmissions to justify it. The network you get at Milton is far superior, since over half the class’ parents can pony up 60k+.

How did everyone’s results go today?

Also I drove by Milton Academy 20 min ago and didn’t pass through sketchy neighborhoods..

There are towns like Lexington whose public high school is a Harvard feeder school.

Really ignorant post. Brookline and Belmont are on Harvard’s feeder school list too, public high schools.

Quite a lot of parents in the public schools can pay full tuition but there’s no need to. I know some living in Boston use private high school but most suburbs are fine.

METCO is a decades old program where city kids are able to be bussed into the suburbs if they aren’t happy with Boston schools. Mostly minority children which I’m surprised the poster didn’t mention. I don’t know why she’s talking about teen pregnancy like it’s 1965. Disciplinary issues are everywhere and aren’t extreme.

If you have a top gpa and SAT, you are more likely to be admitted at a less rigorous school. There are too many legacies and children of faculty there for you to gain a spot. Harvard can only accept so many from one HS. There is no real Harvard “feeder” where the school’s college counselor can convince Harvard to take a bunch of unconnected kids who otherwise wouldn’t have gotten in without assistance. It doesn’t even exist at the boarding schools.

See above. There are no Harvard feeders. “Can” and “should” are different. If you make 500k a year you can afford a private for your child. The level of wealth at a Milton or BB&N is off the charts and much higher than what you’re dealing with at Belmont or Brookline (those families with the 8mm mansions who belong to TCC aren’t going to Brookline High).

If you get pregnant at Milton, you get thrown out. If you get pregnant at Brookline, you continue with your class and show off your baby bump to other 15 year olds. It’s a joke.

It does exist with the top boarding schools. They aren’t taking the whole class from anywhere but there are always more admitted from these schools than the similar schools

Why do you assume that high incomes mean private school. Not all kids are capable of the fast pace of the private school. A lot of kids want to go to their hometown school, unrelated to salary.

No, it doesn’t. I went to a school of the Andover Exeter Hotchkiss SPS Groton Deerfield level. Seriously, nine out of ten HYP admits was a legacy (high donation), recruited athlete, diversity, or genuine savant level intelligence. These applicants would get into HYP from anywhere. The college office had some relations with NESCACs to broker applicants. They could not, under any circumstance, get some unhooked 1550 Caucasian or Asian applicant into Harvard. That didn’t happen beyond the rate it’d happen at Lexington High or Newton.

I love my boarding school and donate. The experience is worth 250k whatever it is now. Going because it can help with Ivies really does a disservice to families and leads to disappointment.

Why would you expect Brookline to throw a pregnant 15 year old out?

I wouldn’t. It’s a free school with zero admission and conduct standards.

So then why compare it to Milton?
