Pepperdine vs Miami - Academically

Anonymous
OP is not fake. ED at Miami, EA at Pepperdine. Why do you can to focus on OP’s ëthical behaviour? What a Karen.

They both have decent business programs. Pepperdine used to be more elite than Miami. But I dont think that is still the case. Miami has done a good job academically catching up. But if your kid prefers small classes, Pepperdine is the way to go. For international studies the focus is different. Pepperdine has a DC program and Miami is more Latin America focused.

If your kid gets in St Andrews and prefers IR, then it is a no brainer….

OP said DC was admitted to Miami which means ED which means they’re committed to going to Miami. End of story. There is no other choice. So why the thread?

It's not being a Karen to decline to enable unethical behavior and to warn others of the same.

You know? Yet you encouraged your kid to apply.

No hell no.

Who pays for college that you don't get a job when you graduate? Economics in Florida dying day by day by day there will be no jobs.

Are you suggesting the kid should go to Pepperdine? Or just dont go to college?

DS toured both. Fell in love with both for different reasons. He cant decide.
Got in Miami Herbert and Pepperdine Int Business program. But also interested in both of their International Studies Major.
He likes Pepperdine Study Abroad program better, but feels like Miami is a better business school.
He understands the small “concervative and religious”bias at Pepperdine and he is not worried about it having been at a Christian school his whole life. He has friends at both schools and they are all telling him what he wants to hear.

Anyone here with experience having kids at either school?

He is also waiting for U of St Andrews but not sure he will get in. SAT 1470, GPA 3.82/4 UW.

Regardless of the DCUM Karen police that minds everyone businesses…..you do you. If that was my kid and his choices were Pepperdine, Miami or St Andrews for IR and nothing else, the choice would be pretty clear:
1) St Andrews
2) St Andrews
3) St Andrews
4) Pepperdine (due to their DC program)
5) Miami

Those STATs will be borderline 50/50 at St Andrews. I have seen kids with worse stats get in and other with 1500 not accepted. It really depends on when you applied and which course. But there is a good possibility he will get in.

But I agree with the previous poster. Assuming he wants International Relations there is no comparison between these schools. Business would be more subjective depending on what your kid wants to do. I’ve never been a fan of business undergrad education anyway….

Pepperdine is lacking the rah-rah and doesn't even have a football team.

Good thing OP asked about academics not rah-rah…..otherwise, just go to Alabama….

Which would mean the OP is considering lying or cheating to break a contract so they can attend a Christian school. So winning!

Don't be meta. Just focus on the question.

Nobody likes a lying OP.

OP didn’t say their kid has received an acceptance. Perhaps they feel confident based on the scattergrama and so are thinking about choices.
