Agree that this was self righteous and more than a little aggressive. DP (who, fwiw, loves the idea of giving banned books as a gift in circumstances that aren't not going to be contentious).

+1 and to pat one's self on the back like that. That's not loving family behavior at all nor in the spirit of Christmas. It's just sad.
