What Books Did You Get as Christmas Presents?

If you celebrate and exchange or receive gifts, did you get any books? Which books? Surprises (and, if so, good or bad)?

Some years, I get a few books as gifts. But, not really this year.

Just one. Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Really enjoying it so far!

The new complete poems of Seamus Heaney
2 books by David Szalay (not Flesh, I already read that)
a book by Thames and Hudson about "Outsider Art"
and I'm waiting on another art book that was ordered for me by my son (but has yet to arrive).

Two books.
Mona’s Eyes from a friend. Never heard of it. I’ve started it, and not loving it so far, but still hopeful.
The History of the Rain from my teen. I specifically asked for this one as I read a few other books by Niall Williams and loved them. Can’t wait to read it.

Heart the Lover in my stocking. Looking forward to it-and a doable length for the weekend!

I got a gift from a friend from a UK publisher that reprints forgotten women authors from the mid-twentieth century. Should be interesting.

Project Hail Mary from my son. We're going to the movie together when it comes out in March. I've read it several times but wanted my own copy. (previously borrowed from library)
A book from my first grandson (he's six months old) on recording my life memories. I love this gift!

I got 1929 (Andrew Ross Sorkin) and Dark Renaissance (Stephen Greenblatt). I read a lot of fiction and wanted to read some nonfiction.

I'm an actor who has always been obsessed with Shakespeare and the early moderns, so very excited to read Dark Renaissance.

Hours of pleasure await.

Do please give us your take on it. It's the Barnes & Noble book of the year, and when I was there today and saw it on the tables I thought to myself "How much did they ['they' being the publishing house] pay for this?"

The Let Them Theory from our book club gift exchange.

All books that are banned in red states sent them to all my nieces and nephews.

My BIL was not pleased.

Too bad for that fool.

I'm reading this right now. It's very good, I have trouble putting it down at night.

I just got 1929 and am looking forward to it.
