Actually, it was during covid, under Trump. It was going down under the second half of Biden's admin, but then went back up because of Trump's tariffs policies. Who doesn't know that tariffs will cause prices to go up?

DP, but what you're missing is that Biden actually did cause a lot of inflation with the Russia sanctions. We basically cut ourselves and allies off from cheap energy sources that were replaced with more expensive ones. That's because energy prices impact all other prices.

Spare us the Russian propaganda. Before the sanctions, only around 3-4% of US domestic oil consumption came from Russia. Removing that 3-4% from our supply did not cause "a lot of inflation." That story may be more relevant for the EU and other places more heavily dependent on Russian oil (and that would be due to their own sanctions), but not for the US.

If you actually about understanding the big picture (cause and effect, inflation factors, unemployment and how country's handle once in a lifetime pandemics), compare the US 2019-2024 to other countries during those years.

Its a good thing oil is a highly regional commodity rather than a global one then. You do realize we ended up selling a ton of LNG to Europe to replace that oil right? Natural gas prices doubled as a result.

Now if we end the sanctions, and fix Nordstream, you'll see prices crater. And inflation with it.
