Op here. Yes I have the skin too. I’m talking about almost constant thrombosed hemorrhoids that stick out and are purple. They bleed sometimes. I wouldn’t call them cosmetic because I don’t care what they look like (if dh noticed he’s kind enough to never have mentioned it). I’m sick of waddling and the pain. |
I have this as well. I stand to poop. As in I stand there and wait for the urge and then I sit for that one moment and then stand up again. Sitting would make mine pop out even worse. After a BM I take a shower and wash off with the sprayer and a rag. Cleaning up well is important so that I don’t get irritation that would make my roids flare up. On particularly bad days I have to take a sitz bath and soak my sore ass in warm water until the swelling subsides. Then I have to carefully dry off, use some prep H and lay down for the rest of the day so that I don’t cause a flare up. I had a thrombosed roid that I had surgically removed after it would not shrink after weeks of trying. The experience was horrible and included a 4 week recovery but it never came back. I have two or three other smaller ones that are chronic but I am able to manage. I would strongly prefer to not ever have that surgery again. Drs have not bee much of a help. One guy suggested using ice since “cold reduces swelling” but I promise that is not a solution for me. You are not alone. It’s a journey. |
| I would see a specialist if possible. There are other things that could be going on that you can’t see. My husband had a bad flare of hemorrhoids because of his UC and it turned out it wasn’t just hemorrhoids, he also had a fissure and an abscess. He did have the surgical procedure to repair everything but it’s still been a slow healing process and he might need to go back for a revision. FWIW I had hemorrhoids after both of my births and they are still there but not painful other than maybe 1-2 flare ups a year if I get an upset stomach. So I think your case is severe enough to see a specialist if possible. |
| Go see a colorectal surgeon. Purple hemorrhoids are thrombosed and it is not common to have frequent recurrence |
| See a colorectal surgeon. I can recommend Dr. Vivek Patil in Bethesda. |
| If you’re in Virginia, Fairfax Colorectal is great. Dr. Katherine Khalifeh is top notch. |

A couple of resources for fellow sufferers:
Your Friendly Proctologist — YouTube channel. He has a playlist of 289 videos on hemorrhoids — a ton of info. Here’s a recent one: https://youtu.be/3bXSCNi37Hw?si=0lheWaUkhdXbDqLL I also found out about Pranicura from his channel — expensive but a jar lasts for ages and much better than Preparation H suppositories for external hemorrhoids and itching. Make sure to read all instructions carefully and follow them. https://www.pranicura.com/ |
External is a whole different ballgame. An external skin tag (shrunken hemorrhoid) is NBD but a legit external hemorrhoid is painful. It wouldn’t deter me from removing though. |
DP here with hemorrhoids and curious what kind of surgery your friend had? Did she have banding or open surgery? I’ve resisted surgery for years, but these are affecting my quality of life!!! |
Fellow hemorrhoid sufferer here and thank you for the links! |

OP: This method got rid of my many years ago!
I went to so many doctors but the Korean doctor said to do this (2-3X a day with warm water) or went ever you had time. This will heal it. You can order this from Amazon. Sitz Bath for Toilet - Yoni Steam Seat, Sitz Bath for Hemorrhoids, Foldable Sitz Bath for Postpartum Care, Designed for Perineum Soaking, Hemorrhoid, and Anal Inflammation Treatment |
| You need to eat healthier. More fiber, more whole grains/fresh fruit/veg. |
| I have these but I figure they’re there to remind me of childbirth and give me anxiety about colon cancer so I get a colonoscopy when it’s time. They also help with self loathing about not drinking enough water. |
Well, FYI, I clicked on the YouTube link and the channel’s most popular videos seem to be about how great a””” s”x is and how to prepare so I gave up. Be forewarned. |
OP here. Mine go away, that's not the issue. The issue is that they come right back very very quickly. |
