But if that is the level of competition for the hs girls, no thanks! My dd will get better competition at local indoor leagues and bca 6s events. We will get down to florida this winter but im glad we wont be wasting the time at this event.

My 2030 had fun but the competition is pretty bad. If your kid plays in the NGLL A division, this is a huge step down.

There is more than one event for these National teams. A lot of the squads are also participating in Sandstorm and USA Lacrosse Youth Nationals.

The practices and the coaches for MD Select were worth it for my DD.

Same deal though, sandstorm’s competition sucks and the national teams get smashed at youth nationals. MD Select had a better 2029 team last year and they still got beat down by 91 roar and YJ. Their only win was against a horrible Mass Elite B team. But to each their own. Spend the money, take the trips, have fun.

I get doing this if your kid is going to GC and you want to kiss the coach’s butt, but all of that time, money, and energy to play at sandstorm and the national cup is wild.

I know nothing of md select or these other tournaments, but my kid was a guest player at sandstorm previously and the level of play was shockingly bad. About half of the 2029 teams didn’t have a player who could catch.

Sounds like better competition and players at the middle school level then like someone said in high school less players do it again.

While the competition down in Florida was not great, for my 2030 DD it was a good experience. Getting 12 practices with other girls from top teams (Hero’s G, MDU E, BLC, MND, Cop, and Skywalkers), good coaching, and 2 tournaments (with USA Nationals being a more competitive tourney) is hardly a money grab. The tryout was competitive and the vast majority of players who played on this team last year turned up for the tryouts this fall. So they must have seen value in their experience.

As a parent of older player and a 2030, the 2030 are all in, there’s nothing they won’t throw money at. It’s wild. MD select was basically a place for Rebels, hoco hero’s white kids to get more reps. Now these parents are signing up like it’s Juniors open.

If parents have the cash and time, go for it but no one getting better or getting on radars from it.

The FOMO with the 2030 group is unreal.

These moms are some of the nastiest we have ever encountered. Unbelievable.
