Car seats rules

My sister still has her 10yo in a 5 point harness. It might seem crazy but she is small and niece doesn’t really care either.

OP as I said before do what is right for your family. Sounds like that means don't carpool. Not having your kid ride without proper safety equipment, not trying to wrangle other kids onto boosters you buy and they fight because they don't use them with parents. That fiighting will just make your kid unpopular.

People are so weird, the US has the sad distinction of being #1 in car accidents in the west, too many careless drivers. Why in the world wouldn’t you use something as simple as a booster seat which could save the LIFE of your child. It’s not a bubble it’s basic common sense, and being a responsible parent.

A woman died today ( Sunday) in a rollover accident in Silver Spring. When she woke up today she didn’t plan on dying in a car accident. When she got in her car she didn’t plan on dying in a car accident.
You never know what’s going to happen. Protect your kids every time they get in a car.

Putting a kid in a booster too small for an adult seat belt is not bubble wrapping your kid. It’s common sense.

OP you can only control whats in your car or what your kid does. Have some boosters in your car for other kids and send one with yours if the other person doesnt provide. I did this.

Others may not use the booster. Be the driver and if a child refuses one, don't drive them.

I live in a mixed socioeconomic area which may contribute, but I see very young kids, toddlers in cars without any car seats, or in the front seat, or sitting on top of other kids packed with 3+ other kids all in the back seat. I don’t think cops do anything about it unless you get pulled over for something else and they notice

It's a racist law, and it's also designed to financially hurt poorer people as well.

How? A booster seat is less than $20.

Oh my, the rich racism screamer again... You can get free car seats new through most counties and people regularly give them away. If you can afford a car, you can afford or will find a way to get a car seat. People like you shouldn't have kids.

And yet if you're riding a bike, you can do literally anything you want. There are no rules apparently. I saw a bicyclist with an infant in the basket on the front of her bike.

I always made sure I handed over my kid's booster/travel booster when they riding in someone else's car.

That doesn’t make it right. Or sensible.

For booster seats it depends on the car and the size of the child. They are helpful in SUVs but are dangerous in a typical compact sedan. Go to a used car lot and test it out. The fact that booster seat rules vary from state to state and are completely unheard of outside the US should tell you it's mostly a scam perpetuated by Big Booster Seat. I ditched them after age 5.

Give it a rest, Karen

This is a misuse of the term 'karen' karen's call the manager.

My 10 year old son is still in high back booster seat, and he is 80 lbs and 54 inches. The seat says it goes up to 110 lbs. I see kids younger or smaller than him has dropped the car seat. He does not mind to sit in one.

Big Booster Seat? Put down the crack pipe.

It only depends on the size of the car if by compact sedan you mean a Power Wheels.
