| I don’t bend over for 30. If I have to bend over, it will cost you a lot more. |
| Buy lottery tickets. Or hand it to an unhoused person. |

| When I was a kid and found money in the parking lot, I brought it to the police station nearby. A couple of years ago, I found cash in a church/preschool driveway, and gave it to the office at the church. It would be annoying to schlep around if there was no obvious location to deposit the money... so if I found petty cash in the middle of nowhere, maybe I'd keep it. ID cards, phone, I'd return to owner (and have, when a teen dropped their license on my sidewalk). Unidentified valuables, I'd drive to a police station. |
It's unclaimed property. It doesn't belong to the government except to handle the disposition. |
Karma. |

| I found a 50 dollar bill at Merriweather once. I did not take it to the lost and found. |
Spain might disagree!

| I think the most I ever found was 20. But yeah, if no one is around who is the obvious owner, I’m keeping it. It’s unlikely that someone is reporting that amount of money lost so if I tried to hand it into a store or something it would just end up in someone else’s pocket. |

$30, id look around to see if anyone nearby may have dropped it or if anyone was looking for it, but if not, I’d keep it.
Once I found about $200 in $20s scattered around a CAVA. I did give that to the cashier, and while I was there the person who lost it came in looking for it. I think anything over $100 you should make an effort to find the owner. |
Giving it to the cashier was a bad idea |
Yeah, if the person had not come in while they were there, it would have become a tip.

| I'd buy groceries. |
I would pocket it without a second thought if it were just banknotes. If it was cash in a wallet with ID I’d turn it in. If there was a wallet but no ID I’d leave it be. |
