| I found a 50 dollar bill at Merriweather once. I did not take it to the lost and found. |
Spain might disagree!
|
| I think the most I ever found was 20. But yeah, if no one is around who is the obvious owner, I’m keeping it. It’s unlikely that someone is reporting that amount of money lost so if I tried to hand it into a store or something it would just end up in someone else’s pocket. |
|
$30, id look around to see if anyone nearby may have dropped it or if anyone was looking for it, but if not, I’d keep it.
Once I found about $200 in $20s scattered around a CAVA. I did give that to the cashier, and while I was there the person who lost it came in looking for it. I think anything over $100 you should make an effort to find the owner. |
Giving it to the cashier was a bad idea |
Yeah, if the person had not come in while they were there, it would have become a tip.
|
| I'd buy groceries. |
I would pocket it without a second thought if it were just banknotes. If it was cash in a wallet with ID I’d turn it in. If there was a wallet but no ID I’d leave it be. |
| I found a $50 bill just outside a Whole Foods. I could just picture someone coming back, frantically asking if anyone had found it. I turned it over to the customer service desk. I doubt it was claimed, but I have a clean conscience that I didn’t prevent the rightful owner from claiming it. |
| I once found a $20 in an empty parking lot. I was delighted with my good luck, and spent the next hour or so thinking up small treats to buy. I ended up giving it to someone who seemed homeless, who had always been polite and pleasant when I passed him near the Metro. |
| I would leave it on the street. It's not mine. Picking it up would be stealing. |
|
No I wouldn’t post about it online because I think it would open up a huge can of worms….
I just imagine all kinds of folks coming out of the woodwork suddenly claiming the cash belonged to them. ▶️ First off I would ask anyone who was around if it was their money. I know, doing this would also be opening myself up to unscrupulous people who will claim it as their own but I would feel bad if I just pocketed the cash ➕ just walked away. |
| I found $60 lying in the ground in DC recently. I was so conflicted. Taking it felt like stealing. Maybe someone would take it that needed it more. Maybe some one would buy drugs with it? In the end I took it and added to a work charity collection that was going on at that time. |
