Would you have your kids make their bed if their bus was 6:50?

Why would you even think that my kids have beds to sleep in? That shows so much privilege! Lol

If that were my philosophy, I’d have them do it when they get home from school, not when they have to catch a 6:50am bus.

Nope. My kids don't make their beds in the morning. They do help me make the beds in the weekends, but they do not come back from school to a messy room or house.

My daily routine includes spending 10 minutes (yes, I time myself) in each of the 4 bedrooms - airing, opening the blinds, dusting, removing trash from the waste paper basket, taking dirty laundry, removing any dishes, organizing books, clothes, making beds, quick vacuum.

I make my bed each morning but it takes less than 30 seconds. No top sheet as we use comforter cover. Fluff up and align pillows when I’m up - I usually air out the bottom sheet by opening the comforter like a book (parallel to pillows) - as im heading out I’ll pull it back up. That said I don’t make my kid make his bed, and usually just an align the comforter myself so it looks neater. But that takes 5 seconds.

NP. You shouldn't make your bed right away- it's better to pull down the covers and let it air out for an hour.

It takes less than ten seconds to straighten the blanket out. Maybe 15 if you have to toss pillows back near the headboard. That's not too much to ask.

Let this one go.

My DS was a swimmer and had practice during the season at 5:30 AM. He made the bed before he left the house.

He is right. Making your bed is often the first task you should do for the day and being productive leads to more productivity. It really shouldn’t matter what time your child wakes up- making the bed takes a couple minutes. BUT- I wouldn’t make it a hill to die on either. I set the example by making mine every day, but I’m not going to nag my child about making theirs.

I think if you like the beds made, you make the beds.
