This happened to me a few years ago, and I was shocked to find that the offline person was NOTHING like he'd pretended to be online - not married, no kids, not financially successful, etc. He'd engaged in a lot of judgments of others from the position of presenting himself as the whole package of high achievement, so it was a mind bender for me to realize he'd been lying for what amounted to decades to this group of folks who'd been posting online together.

I'm one of those persistently naive folks who tells the truth and means what she says, and expects the same from others but has been repeatedly kicked in the teeth by the reality that so many people aren't earnest and honest. In the end, it just makes me sad to think that somebody has whatever going on in their brain that makes them feel compelled to create a false persona online - and isn't it hard to keep track of all the lies???

Something I've noticed about the way leftists argue is they often don't even try to prove you wrong. They just act like the mere fact that you're saying something they disagree with is a fault in and of itself, as if you disagreeing with them makes you wrong by definition.

BTW I am not a Democrat let alone progressive. But rule of law, equal justice under the law, and the Constitution really matter to me.

It's sad to think of all the unreported and untreated mental problems from the right. Is that why they tend to be the ones that snap?

The right doesn't just cut off people it doesn't agree with, it prosecutes them so they have to spend money defending baseless charges.

Actually it's not true that good nice kind people come with ALL opinions and behavior. Cruel and bullying actions are not done by good nice kind people. Good kind nice people don't threaten those who disagree with violence.
