Just look at all the chortling over “The Book of Mormon” @ the Kennedy Center.

- then imagine the same sort of mocking and belittling theatrical production, based on “The Book of the Muslims” or “The Book of Those Jews” ?

The Life of Brian, anyone? All religions are open for mocking in a free society. Why should Muslims or Jews be protected?

Too high brow for modern Christians to understand.

Unless you think that anything anyone does is necessarily proselytizing, how was his show -- which never mentioned religious -- proselytizing?

"He earned a Masters of Divinity degree in 1963. He was ordained in 1963 by the Presbytery of Pittsburgh with the unusual charge to continue his ministry with children and their families through the media."

I mean, you don't want the ice cream to melt.
Has anyone else seen this?

The world has changed and most people are not at home during the day to answer the door to missionaries. They need to be more creative about ways to meet people. And all missionaries are expected to provide a certain number of service hours each week. If a more organized volunteer shift doesn't work out, this is an option.

Not sure how some of these "mocked" Jews...

I briefly worked with a former member of that church, who told me they are very carefully coached on what to do and say during their missionary work. She did not go into details, but I got the impression it was suffocating. I would not want my teens raised in such an environment.

My husband is a pastor and had missionaries in his apartment building try to convert him before they knew he was a pastor. They had a meeting (after finding out he was a pastor, it wasn’t a trap) but the missionary had very scripted responses they repeated over and over. They ended up just saying something like “well we know this is true and we aren't going to convince you so we’ll just leave.” Almost like we aren’t going to waste our time. The pitch works for some people but if they find someone it won’t work on they cut their losses and move on.

This is true. Mormonism is what the Bible calls “another gospel” and it should be avoided.

Mormons came to my door not knowing I was biblically literate. When I asked, “Why would someone whose language is 1800s English translate into 1600s English, a language that was no longer spoken? Could it be Joseph Smith wanted his book of Mormon to seem like the Bible?”

The leader said, “King James English is the language of God!”

I countered by saying the Bible was translated from Greek and Hebrew scrolls long before there was a country called England.

They shook my hand and left.

They were probably just being nice, doing missionary work. Would not bother me and I am an agnostic.

As an agnostic who is pretty much about freedom, the Christian on Christian hate is mind boggling.

Mormons are not Christians.

Mormons are funny! Their made up religion and rituals are just asking for a musical. All those white boys in short sleeve button ups, perfect for a chorus line.

Most Mormon missionaries are subjected to psychological abuse by the people who oversee them. They are not given much privacy or time off, and they are encouraged to tattle on each other for sinning. If you see them, you should offer them some literature about all the horrible things Joseph Smith did.

Christians are funny too! They also have a made up religion.
