Latina, went to Greenwood and Rosa Parks. I got bullied by the other kids for being Latina and my peers would tell me the disparaging things their parents would say about my parents because they didn't speak English. A kid once called my mom a b**net on a field trip. There's racism in other parts of the county, sure, but why would you deliberately seek out this part of the county that has this reputation? Go go the Magruder or QO areas instead.

Well then don’t go to Germantown either. The schools there have kids that use the N word freely towards anyone. Swastikas on desks. Starts at home.

We are a Latino family at Sherwood. Our oldest graduated a couple years ago and we have kids there now. Both the community, neighborhoods and school are a typical representation of the rest of the county. We have had no issues with race, discrimination, or anything else. We are very happy with the school and the community.

It’s a typical Montgomery County school. There are a few people here on DCUM who well immediately and inaccurately tell you it’s a racist of school. It is not. I’m not discounting anybody who’s had a negative experience, but you will find families with negative experiences that every single school.

I am not liking Sherwood as a parent. I feel like the communication to parents is not great. Teachers often don't respond to emails. The principal leaves out important information in his emails. It feels very disorganized.

Yes, kids everywhere say and do grossly inappropriate things BUT how the sfults handle it is the problem. That is an issue at SHS unfortunately.

Yes, kids everywhere say and do grossly inappropriate things BUT how the sfults handle it is the problem. That is an issue at SHS unfortunately.

Agreed. It’s an MCPS- wide issue though. Look at all the threads on other schools.

Just you look at Magruder and Rockville. It is much worse than Sherwood is.
