Sherwood

If you have kids who attend or have attended Sherwood, are you happy with the school? Interested in the area. Thanks.

I grew up in that area. Everyone is racist and on opioids. It's the Ohio of Montgomery County. Do not move there.

What???

Lifelong MoCo resident who moved out to Olney nearly 10 years ago and I haven’t run into any racist addicts. It’s primarily UMC/affluent two-parent families who want a small-town feel.

Sherwood is fine. Racially diverse. Decent academics like all other mcps schools.

Some families opt for private schools, but most stick with public.

It is not as diverse as other MCPS HS. Not sure what the drug reference is about. Olney is typical middle class town. Kinda boring town but maybe that’s what you are looking for.

If you have a special needs kid or needs good communication and planning about your student from staff, this may not be the school for you

From downcounty. Always hated when we played Sherwood - yes, there is racism.

I know no one on opioids and there are a few lingering racists but a lot of people have moved on or died, and Olney is now mostly youngish families who want to buy a sfh.

Sherwood is less than 50% white, meaning more than 50% of the students are persons of color. Just like RM. Just like WJ. Etc.

It’s diverse. All of MoCo is diverse.

Hey there Central Office. Still on your racist kick?? You know what they say…if everyone around you is racist, who’s the real racist? Knock it off with claims with no objective evidence. Ok? Otherwise lawsuits are going to bankrupt the county.

I mean if we want to play these kind of arguments, nobody should ever consider sending their kid to Poolesville HS because one of the nation's top young White Nationalist leaders is a Poolesville graduate

Every single school has students who run their mouth and say inappropriate things. It’s a national problem.

Unless you have recent significant issues with evidence, it’s best to not spread rumors that can cause more harm.
