As bad as things are now getting for international travel and tourism to the US, it shall surely dip lower in a year
Locals probably have a better chance at WC tickets than at any previous recent world cups |
Give me a break, international fans will show up in droves to watch their home country matches in the US. |
1.5 million people applied for tickets on the first day of presale.
On the first day. You have a better chance of winning Powerball than you do of getting a World Cup ticket. |
It's simple to get world cup tickets - really. They've been giving away Right to buy licenses in their digital collectible junk for months and there is an entire secondary market with quite reasonable prices for them. |
In the history of the modern world cup, I doubt getting tickets is simple, except for the very connected or rich |
They haven't been giving them away...they've been selling them for a fortune. They were giving away Club World Cup tickets when you bought a World Cup license...maybe that's your confusion. |
They've been including them in their garbage digital packs. Yes, not cheaply, but the PP said there was no way to get tickets, and yet - https://www.fifacollectanalytics.com/marketplace - there they are at a variety of price points. There are also wildly overpriced hospitality packages. Expensive, yes. I'll be entering the lotto and buying after market like most people. |
What exactly is the RTB? Is it just that? You are paying a fee to be able to buy a ticket? Wtf |
Yup it's crazy and terrible - you also don't get to pick where, no cap on the cost, and it could even be for one of several games. It is however a guarantee to see a game if you have one and buy the ticket. For group stage I think its nuts, unless people are gambling that they can get great seats they can resell. If you are content with upper deck it'd be a waste. |
They're not actually giving away the tickets; you pay a fee for the right to buy the tickets later. They're giving away a shortcut to buy them. I opted not to pay $400 on top of whatever the tickets cost, as most people I'm sure did (including you). |
