Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot

For those of you with smart TVs, check your "live" channels. I have a 24/7 Buffy channel playing on mine. It's kind of fun to see what episode is on rather then choosing on streaming. Like shuffling a playlist.

What? Ok, I always dreamed of this day . I’m at the show with the guy who stole Spike’s look at Merriweather, but I will check when I get home

No, they should not.

She’s a gross MAGA shill.

BtVS stood for things MAGA hates so I doubt she would have wanted it anyway.

Smg is like a month older than me, and I would LOVE to look like she does. She stays in shape. Did anyone see the video of her training with the new slayer?

Yes!

I know that Joss Whedon has been me-tooed for not so nice behavior towards his female actors. However, the best part of Buffy was the smart writing and story development spearheaded by him. Maybe they got some of the original script writers back, but I am very concerned it's going to come off as dumbed down compared to the original series.

It's a shame about Michelle Trachtenberg. RIP.

The show went pretty off the rails in the final season but it had its moments. Unfortunately bringing back much of the cast isn't happening. They either had issues themselves or have been open about bad stuff on set during filming of the show. Wheedon was apparently a terror on set.

I think they're not bringing back a ton of the cast because they recognize that today's youth want to watch hot young things in their acting prime and nostalgia is great but maybe not enough to be commercially viable.

SMG is super buff and I hope we get to see some good training montages, but it's a smart decision to more the story forward with a younger bunch.

I am curious about the lore since we are supposed to have a world of slayers now.

Has anyone shared the original Buffy with their teens? I'm wondering how it would land.

My boys are still in elementary but I'm looking forward to sharing it with them when they are older. If only to teach them to never ever be like Xander.

It really is. Tragic. They had just announced the reboot when she passed.

SMG posted a lovely tribute on her socials. It would not surprise me at all if they somehow incorporated her loss into the storyline.

In the comics (which I have not personally read), Dawn and Xander married and started a family. While many don’t want too much of the comic storyline, I actually think that plot could be kept. Maybe she is raising her niece or something?

Billy Idol? I was at that show too!! lol— spike definitely stole Billy’s look. I was thinking at the show it as sort of amazing Billy never had a cameo in any of the many vampire shows and movies as a yeah, of course I’m a vampire tongue in cheek thing. Sadly Billy has no aged liked a vampire.

If you haven’t listened to “Buffering the Vampire Slayer” podcast, I highly recommend it.

Oh I wish I didn't read that.

I wonder how they never got a pic of Billy with James as spike.

According to “the Google” there was an offer to Billy to actually play spike (when he wasn’t set to be a long running family), but it didn’t happen

Yeah, Billy hasn’t aged as well, but hey - he can still belt it out. Hope you had as much fun as we did!

Long running character. Not family. Sorry - not sure how that happened.
