Filming has started in LA. Ryan Keira Armstrong as the slayer. Writers have include Nora and Lila Zuckerman and Chloe Zhao is directing…

SMG reprising her role. A lot of legacy characters are back; Charisma Carpenter says to air in June 2026. Gonna be on Hulu.

Stay tuned. Excited.

I'm very excited, too!

Has anyone shared the original Buffy with their teens? I'm wondering how it would land.

Buffy was a teeny bit before my time (35), but I'm watching it on streaming. I can't wait for the reboot!

I wondered this too or if show and like many of the 80s/90s/2000s movies and shows the kids now will just say “it’s so mean”

My daughter and I watched the series during the COVID lockdowns. (I'm a dad, fwiw.) It landed great. At the time, my daughter was about 15. Later in high school, she introduced her friends to the show and repeated the process with new friends in college. I had only heard about the series during its original run; so my daughter & I were watching it for the first time together. So much fun.

Lots of great moments, but I still remember being absolutely floored by the episode "the Body."

“The Body” was emotionally brutal. Another stand out is season 4, ep 10 “Hush”-17 minutes of dialogue in 44 min run time

The alternative universe novel/audiobook/radio drama with some of the original cast so was so, so bad. I suspect this is going to suck a whole lot. Buffy was innovative for its time. Now it's just another teen drama.

The Body is a great episode. It makes me cry every time.

There's a lot of the younger generation discovering the original Buffy and loving it. It seems to be one of the shows that has held up! I'm cautiously excited for this new show

I'm watching it with my 14yo and it's a big hit. We're in the middle of season 3.

I thought Whedon was cancelled?

They should have cast Sydney Sweeney as the slayer.

I really hope they do a better job with the vampire makeup. The original was kind of ugly.

She’s too old to play high school

He’s not involved in the new one at all.

Most of the original cast have spoken out against his actions but remain proud of the work they did on the series.

SMG has said in the past that she wouldn’t return to the role unless it was a fantastic idea. And is also involved in the production and casting. I really believe that they care about staying true to the original and the fans.

I am so excited for this. I have watched it so many times through over the years. I remember when FX showed it in the morning and early evening. I frequently watch it on Fuse right now - they play it all day. Yes, I am aware it can be streamed, but I rarely do.
