Simply put, when men were able to structure society for their sole benefit, oppress women, and keep them legally and practically dependent on men, men didn't have to put forth much effort on the home front, emotionally or otherwise. The societal landscape and structure has changed and men have not adapted. Many of them find it easier to pay someone to pretend to care about them rather than put in the work at home and in their relationships.

I driver Uber weekends and sometimes I pick up strippers after their shift end..we have very good conversations. One stripper told me that some of the men come there and don't even want a lap dance they just want someone to talk to. She said many are married as well. She said one guy was so depressed he broke down crying.

I think it's much much harder for women because they have far more to lose. Pick the wrong guy and your life is at risk. Pick the wrong guy and he can leave you a single mom.

Having choices does not mean it's easier. A lot of women are in unhappy relationships, but for whatever reasons they have convinced themselves that staying in those relationships is better.

Being lonely is not necessarily a bad thing. It's much better than being with someone just because you don't want to be single. I have no issues with lonely paying for sex if they can afford it. Some of the men that pay for sex will surprise you. Some are very attractive, rich and not weird.

I think the issue is that women are frustrated when men are depressed and don't turn to them for support..what some of these women fail to understand is that the way men handle depression and stress is very different from women.

I almost got divorced because I went through a very depressive period and DW though she was helping and I was being ungrateful. It wasn't until I went through a long therapy that I understood that men's depression is very complex. Our wives have the best of intentions, but sometimes they make it worst more than help. I strongly recommend for men who feel lonely and depressed to seek therapy. And I specifically recommended a male therapist.

Society has changed for the worse. Family system is collapsing. In the past men and women had different roles, which was closer to our nature and society was better off. There may have been few bad apples but there was no systematic oppression.

? wtf - of course there was. If you were not a white male hetero you were oppressed. I'd rather live in today's society where a minority woman is free and able to get high paying jobs, live on her own terms.

I'm 54, F minority. I would not want to live in the "olden" days. My mother did that, and she had a very hard life. H3ll to the no.
