For those who use private door-to-door school transportation, how much does it cost, and what was the process to set it

This. But, your kid is going to want to take the SJC bus with his friends. He won’t care that it’s earlier since he can socialize.

This is true. Some of my kid’s best friends at SJC are ones that he made riding the bus (albeit a public route in our case).

$600 for a private driver. We used a summer camp/after school program driver.

We couldn’t use the shuttle because my work day began at 7:30 AM and the shuttle didn’t arrive in our area until 7:45 AM.

If you share what school and general location you’re coming from people can better help you. I would check if your school has a FB, WhatsApp or Group me page/discussion. My kid is going to Gonzaga and our class has a GroupMe discussion where parents ask and give advice on stuff like this. It’s been super helpful. I would assume most schools have resources like this. hope you find something that works for you.

Just wake up your DC early. Most kids will be riding the bus together. He will not die if he has to wake up 30 minutes early.

Oh, you said “looking to send” in your first post so it sounded like you still had options. Why did you choose a school that you can’t get your child to?

Agree that contacting the school to ask about carpools is the best option if there is no bus or public transportation that will work.

SJC has pretty extensive bus routes to the school, we know one family who takes the Potomac Bus and multiple families who take the Bethesda Bus route. They have a whole transportation page on their website with the different routes…

I recommend doing a trial run of this route once or twice before school starts at about the same time as your child would be commuting, if possible. Leave early enough to give your child some wiggle-room in case of metro/bus delays, traffic, etc. A few practice trips and your child will be a pro! During the school year, there will be tons of other students taking this same route.

They also have morning busses from various places in VA and DC.

There are 2 stops in Rockville on the St. John's bus from Germantown and 1 Rockville stop if coming from the Silver Spring side. You should receive info about the bus but you can call the school if you haven't. You can also post for carpools through the mother's club.
