| The logic of OP's plan escapes me. Can someone explain it? |
What, cash? That is hella sneaky since so few people pays cash now. Except maybe those religious “number of the beast” MAGA |
+1. |
| My daughter is a server she gets at least half her tips in cash each night. |
| I don’t tip on anything except table service restaurants and hair/nail services. I plan to continue doing that. |
There is none. Morons have no logic |
It would have to be this way or there would be problems verifying the amounts. |
Travel often requires tipping. Do you travel? |
|
Most tipped workers do not benefit from this at all. If any, it's the opposite. They got to pay taxes to be able to take all the deductions and credits they are allowed to take.
I'm one of those low income tipped workers who has to add imaginary cash tip to get back money at tax time or I'd lose it because I didn't make enough. I'm thinking it benefits the government. Barely any money comes out of my paycheck, but it still get $5-$7k back for years. I file as a HH, take EIC, Savers credit, and tuition credit some years. Standard deduction alone is more than I made in most years. Yes, stop tipping because we don't pay the taxes we never had to pay. Found it: '...not having taxable earnings, reduces eligibility for tax credits'. Is it possible that SS payments will also be lower in the future? I don't think we understand yet that this is not a good deal for low income workers. |
This. Tip for extra good service and to butter up certain service workers to get freebies. Many idiots feel like they have to tip for everything these days, even takeout. People are crazy.
|
|
Absolutely not.
People who wait tables, clean houses, watch young children, etc. work VERY HARD for their money & to not tip them for their services is just not right! |
|
No, I used to be a server. Please understand that in most restaurants the servers have to "tip out" a percentage of their sales to the bartender, the bussers, etc. If you do not tip the server actually has to pay to serve you.
I don't get why people are so excited to punch down and stop tipping. Most restaurant workers are not wealthy and waiting tables is hard work. I have a nice office job now and I worked WAY HARDER when I was a server and bartender than I ever have in my nice office job where I can sit/stand whenever I feel like it, go to the bathroom whenever I want, take a little break to get coffee, and oh yeah, people are generally nice and treat me with basic respect all day! Some of you are so hateful for no reason. |
I do. |
I leave cash for this very reason. People who are cheap, and there are many, will use this as lowering their tip or not even leave one. And there’s a cap on no taxes on tips. |
People are just sick and tired of “give me” culture. I wish we were like other countries. No tips! Period. Pay the workers fair wages but no tips!! |
