With OBBB containing “no tax on tips”, anyone else thinking about stopping to tip?
I am considering stopping all tips except for Hair and spa treatments. I’m zeroing out all tips for eating out Anyone else thinking of doing the same? |
Nope. My tipping routine will stay the same. |
No. We've just stopped eating out. |
It’s only no tax on cash tips. Who leaves cash tips on the regular? |
Furthermore, who was even reporting cash tips? |
OP, why do you plan to stop tipping because of the OBBB? |
Aren’t Venmo “cash” tips? Nail salons have those now. |
Yeah, most weren’t reporting/paying tax on the cash tips before anyway |
After a certain amount they now get sent a 1099 |
Wow, OP. Super classy. |
Honestly, I've reduced my tipping already, but not because of the BBB. For a full-service restaurant, which I rarely go to these days, I still tip 20%, but for picking up my own order, nothing. I used to tip 5%. |
Rarely eat out even though we can afford it. Sick of tips. |
No, most people who get tips don’t make enough to itemize and just take the standard deduction. |
Stick it to the little guy, OP! |
I think the problem with this “great idea” is that businesses will learn how to classify things as tips when they really aren’t, which of course will result in a much smaller tax base, which IMO is the last thing we need right now.
What a mess. |
