Parents can opt to create or purchase their own resources. There are plenty of resources available online these days.

That's asking a lot of parents. Central office created packets in the past. Why can't they just put them on a website since they have already created resources, so parents can download them and the solution sets?

Why does Central Office need to create a packet? Why is it asking a lot of parents? You can get workbooks from the Dollar Tree? The Library is free and has books and book list and all types of resources. Google is free.

You can probably choose something online that is more customized for your child than any MCPS packet necessarily could be. And considering you'll likely need to stand over them and/or correct work anyway, it might as well be something you choose.

There was a big summer assignment for rising grade 7 that DC1 didn't finish, and we were mildly concerned about that. Then school started and DC1 was told they would redo said big thing in January anyway, so whatever had been done was discarded. Suffice it to say that if DC2 is sent the same thing I'm going to ask first before they work on it.

Not a believer in summer packets unless specific skills are being specifically remediated/caught up. To me summer is short enough and busy enough already. DCs don't need to pretend they're in school.
